Racism or just enforcing rules?

I've read a few different articles and saw the video. You have the jerk who co-owns the course who is about 25 yelling and almost getting physical with senior citizens. Yet the ladies skipped the 3rd hole and asked others to play through. It was very obvious racism.
And then the idiot drunk owner and his Dad made the wife phone and apologize to the ladies.
Why the heck would you treat your own members like that?

Watch the video of the young guy threatening the seniors.

What makes it obvious racism? Did the owners say anything racist?
Maybe it was just sexism. Maybe the owners are just a-holes.

Never played golf in my life so am trying to get a picture here.

So if a group is playing and the group playing behind them is constantly having to wait for them to finish playing a hole, they are playing too slow, correct? And if more than one group catches up, it’s a bigger problem.

The slow group can tell the group behind them to go ahead and play the joke while they wait? Is that what playing through is?

So the manager is saying they wouldn’t let others pass them or whatever and is that why they asked them to leave? Or is it just playing slow in general? Are beginning players only supposed to play at certain times?

I don’t understand why the guy behind them said they weren’t too slow when the lady herself said that they were. That’s confusing.

The police saying they had no reason to be called is odd too. I mean if they were acting out before they got there maybe they stopped when they did arrive?

I mean I am not sure anyone can say racism unless this club never lets blacks play. I mean I wouldn’t think the guy would suddenly be racist today but wasn’t yesterday. But stranger things have happened.
If you are on the course without people behind you, nobody cares how long you take as long as you are finished by closing time.
I have played courses before when me and my playing partners were nowhere near as good as a group or even groups behind us, and we stepped aside after finishing a hole and let them tee off before us on the following hole.

And maybe the golfers are. Who is to say?

Maybe but I didn'r hear anything racist from either group on that video, and the woman who was asking the owner (or whoever that young man was) questions sounded pretty calm to me. He sounded like an ******* though.
Like I said before, she was doing the filming. It is fair to assume that she would not be filming during her antagonizing moments.

LOTS of info missing here. I feel like there are a few missing pieces between the owner thinking they were taking too long to play and them cancelling their membership and calling the police.
The guy was not the owner of the course, the owner did apologize to the ladies. It was the group ahead of them was playing slow.

Even if this is the case, and I assure you a group of five is playing slow, does it make this racism?

The guy in the video IS the owner. His wife who is the co-owner with him phoned and apologized to the ladies.

Yes, playing through is just as you described. If an obviously faster group catches your group, the courteous thing to do is finish the particular hole you’re playing. And then, you do not tee off on the next hole. Instead, you step aside and let the faster group pass you at that point.

Now, you’re under no obligation to let the faster group play through if you’re keeping pace with whomever is ahead of your group.

This was based on racism.

The young men arrested at Starbucks was based on racism.

The service women verbally abused and attacked at Cheddars in Georgia was based on racism.

I could go on, but will stop there
What do you base that opinion on? Sounds to me like a possible shakedown.

Why automatically racism? Why could it not possibly be because they were a group of women? Maybe they just didn’t like their attitude?

I watched the video in one of the links. The woman never shut up. She was telling them what happened and what they did, from her POV. She asked a question but never shut up for them to answer.

Something that happened before the video was mentioned but we didn’t see it. And the men are saying THAT incident was why they were asked to leave. Is there another video?

This automatic assumption that if anything is said to anyone of color it has to be racism is one reason there will always be racism. Instead of jumping to that conclusion, everyone should look at their behavior and make sure that didn’t cause some of the problem (not saying it did here, just saying). Businesses have policies, and those policies should have to be abided by everyone. If you aren’t then fix it, don’t refuse to leave and start screaming racism.

I hate to see someone treated differently simply because of skin color, but I also hate to see that jumped to as the first reason for any decision. (And I think a lot of both happens.) I really can't tell which happened here without knowing the parties involved.

I've read several of the links provided and watched one of the videos - it's baffling why they women were approached in the first place. Were they being watched and timed on the holes? If the group behind them didn't complain to the course marshal, how did this even become an issue to begin with if everybody was just golfing along and minding their own business? And the "confrontation" shown in the video seems very, very benign - no raised voices or any implication that things would get volatile.
