Looking for fun places to eat outside Disney.

We'll go to Jungle Jim's one night, but am looking for input regarding the restaurant Race Rock....any thoughts???

We had a fantastic meal at Race Rock on Christmas Eve....we would eat there again.

Thanks for the reply. If you had to classify it, would it be Planet Hollywood-ish or something else....?

Race Rock is certainly better than Jungle Jim's. I think JJ is overated. I did not think much of it at all and my kids did not think it was that cool. They were already spoiled by Rainforest Cafe. They have good burgers, but that is about it. Race Rock is kind of pricy for what you are getting, but I liked the menu a little better. If you like race cars and such it is a good choice. Check out the Monster Truck parked in the back. We like to go to City Walk at Universal for dinner. There are some fun choices there like Margaritaville, NBA, Motown Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe, Nascar cafe, and a few others. We had a fun meal at The Royal Pacific Resort with Scooby and Shaggy.

Yeah, it is Planet Hollywoodish.

Race Rock is awesome. When I went to have dinner, I had the Cheeseburger meal and it was delicious and only about $8.95. Race Rock is a great break from Disney and Universal for those who dont want to spend mega bucks on food. Race Rock has video games to occupy the kids until the food arrives.

We made a "pit stop" there in 2001 because my son-in-law is a huge Jeff Gordon fan.. It was really neat.. You enter through a gift shop that carries all sorts of racing items and also has enclosed cases which contain the actual jumpsuits of some of the drivers..

I think I recall the food being a "tad" more than I would normally pay, but the servings are huge!!

Also be aware that it is very loud as there are closed circuit tv's mounted on the walls directed towards each table/booth..

Overall it was a nice change from the usual restaurants and my son-in-law didn't stop smiling till the next day! :)

If you lke racing, you'll love the Race Rock Cafe..

Two thumbs up for Race Rock. My DH is a huge racing fan so we decided to visit RR during our last trip in December. The décor is everything racing. Meaning trucks, boats, snowmobiles, and cars. The menu was pleasantly diverse with options like burgers, pizza and steak. For four of us DH, DS (13), DS (11) and myself we ordered one appetizer four dinner plates, 2 beers, and four sodas I think the bill came up to around $60.00 plus tip. We could barely finish our food and took huge portions of it back to our hotel room. We will defiantly be going back in October, my husband wanted me to make priority seating there to make sure he got a spot :)
