Just finished the St. Patrick's Day Dash in downtown Seattle in the rain and snow!

Here's my stats -
overall place:
871 out of 7543

division place:
5 out of 186

gender place:
166 out of 4215

time:
29:29

pace:
8:57

The race was about 3.6 miles.
I'm pretty excited about my 5th place finish in my age group!
And I shaved off about a minute from my time last year (but that was only in the pouring rain). :rotfl:

Good luck to everyone else running this weekend!

Just got in from the Leprechaun 8K in Davidson NC. This was the first year..
The race started at 6pm and it was about 80 degrees, but some clouds had moved in..so thankful. I thought it would be fast paced so I moved 3/4 way back of 235 runners. It was a bit more hilly than I thought it would be. We had two water stop around mile 1 and 3 and I had checked so I took my handheld. I dodged many for the first mile and then it cleared. I knew I was toast when the timer called out 8:35 at mile one. That is way too fast for me. I finished in 45 min. smack dap in the middle of the pack and 3rd for my age group...get this 50-99. After the race they handed each a bottle of water had pizza and a great band. Beer for sale. And it was right next to a Ben and Jerry's ice cream store, yes I went there after my pizza. They partnered with new balance and I got a very nice string bag, not a flimsy one, as a prize. For $5 my DH got pizza too (he didn't run). It was a very good event with lots of people out in neighborhood to cheer us as it was such a beautiful evening.

*just wanted to add the guy that won, averaged a 4:49 pace..that's fast.
Found out his name is Anthony Famiglietti and has represented the US in the Olympics twice, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

I ran the RNR USA 1/2 yesterday. The weather was great, and the race was a lot of fun! I wasn't sure what to expect since I'd heard from several people that the national half that this race replaced had issues in the past. I didn't notice any glitches during the race. The support and volunteers were great along the course. There were tons of spectators and tons of food and drinks at the end, I had to grab a heat sheet just to carry all my stuff! The course was crowded at times, which was frustrating because I was only a couple minutes away from a PR, and wish I could have taken advantage of the downhills, but I didn't train for a PR, so I'm really pleased with my time. I can't wait until registration opens up next year, I'll definitely be back!

Congratulations everyone. I did the National half in 2010 and 2011. The 2010 race is my favorite of the 18 halves I've done. In 2011 there were some issues. They decided not to open the Metro at 5:00am like they did in 2010 which means we had to drive to the start. Quite a few people weren't able to start on time because of traffic issues. Then they didn't have clocks at most of the mile markers which didn't matter to me but did matter to a lot of people. It really was generally a poor even in comparison to the year before but I'm glad it sounds like they got some of the glitches fixed. I remember miles 4 through 7 being rough.

This weekend was the start of my race season and I managed my second fastest 5K ever, 18:22. I'm looking forward to a good racing season after the generally bad 2011 racing season.
