The truth is... I am a coaster wimp. I'm ok on Space because I can't see the ground. (Dark is good!) How will I handle this bad boy?

Well I don't want to scare you but this is the only coaster I don't go on. It made me nauseous.

My mom HAAAATES coasters and will ride RNR. It's very smooth - way more smooth than Space and it's also in the dark so that should help you. It does go upside down but truthfully you can barely tell.

Try it!

RRC is dark, but smooth form of SM with day glow signs. It has inversions and (the experts can correct me on this) I think it is faster. Plus the Aerosmith music pumped into your brain is tremendous.

It is my fave at WDW with EE a close second.

I honestly cannot ride SM anymore because it is TOO much for my back to take.

You will love it.

I have a problem with getting motion sick in rides, but luckily Space Mountain has never bothered me much. My DH convinced me to try RnRc on our trip this past September. I was scared it would make me sick, so I did a lot of things to try and prevent it. I started taking ginger pills 10 days before the arrival of our trip. The day we went to DHS in addition to the ginger pill, I took Bonine, wore a motion sickness patch behind my ear, and Sea Bands on my wrists. I knew as soon as the ride took off I was going to be sick. Luckily, I didn't get sick until after I unloaded from the ride, and then I spent two hours laying down in the First Aid station.

I am sorry I want to be silly and say no you will not survive at all. Nobody will survive and they never have.

But as you know, no matter what, the ride will take off and it will come back. You can scream all you want during it but it does end. It is very very fast!

Why not give it a try? Promise you will survive.

Several years ago I decided to conquer my fears and went on it. Honestly, it is my all time Disney park ride favorite now. I am 50 now and I can ride about twice in a row but after the second, I need to move on. :lmao: But, I still love it. If you ride SM, I think this will be OK. Give it a try. I think Space is so uncomfortable. Wish they had Disneyland's Space Mountain So much better.

My mom won't go on Soarin' or even the Iron Dragon for those of you who know Cedar Point but loves R & R. I'm sure part of it is that Aerosmith is her favorite band but just like Space Mountain you can't see the ground. You go upside down and there is speed but if the problem is heights I think you'll be ok.

If you are a healthy individual the ride will not kill you so try it. It is better to regret going on it then wonder "what if" in my opinion.

I too am a coaster wimp and I LOVEEEEE RnRC!! It's my all-time favorite Disney ride. I haven't been on the refurbed version but it was a blast before. You can't see anything except what they want you to, so you'll be fine, as you said you like the dark. Also, there are NO sharp drops, maybe one or two bunny hills. I know because I despise drops!! You will be totally fine, do it!! Now....for me to work up the courage for Splash Mountain!!

well, it's dark... ;)

it's very much an amped-up version of space mountain. probably worth a try but it is one of the most extreme coasters at wdw. try to inhale right before you launch... :)

If you do fine on space because you can't see- if RnR is too much, just close your eyes.

As to whether you will survive: I think thus far every guest except one with a pre-existing condition that has gotten on RnR has also gotten off. So the statistics suggest you will also be fine :)

My step mom had never gone on a roller coaster before. She had no idea what R&R was and waited in line with us and got on. To her surprise, she survived. I think the CMs even gave her a "Magical Moment" certificate for riding her first roller coaster. It is a smooth coaster.

So cool!

My suggestion is keep your hear back on the rest as much as possible, I plant my foot against the front of the seat, if that makes sense. It gives me more leverage to keep my head back and prevent my head from hurting

Ride it and report back. If we don't hear from you, we'll assume that you didn't survive.

Is the blast off really bad? Do you feel like you are losing your breath?

I think it looks worse than it is, it's such a quick part of the ride. It's a really neat feeling. Like I said if you plant your feet against the front of the seat it can help you not feel the pressure as much
