I'm old enough to have been around for the Aretha Franklin version. Whenever I would sing along I'd always kind of bluff my way through that line. We were listening to a new version of the song on Radio Disney last night, and my grandkids were singing along with it. And they faked it on that line too.

It turns out it's because the line doesn't make any sense!
