Let me start off by saying that I am not a complainer! On the 24th we checked into OKW. We were offered 2 rooms in bldg 27. One being a handicap room on 1st floor or a 2nd floor room. We opted for the 1st floor figuring the h/c thing would be no big deal. DH was disappointed with the shower. The caulk around the bottom had mold/mildew on it!! He just figured that was somewhat normal for that shower base and it being flat. In the kitchen we were missing a spatula, scrub pad, and potholders. The 2 spare pillows that my kids used needed pillowcases. It just seemed that it wasn't up to par. We loved the room, view, etc. Also, when I went to take out the garbage bag, the ones at the bottom were loaded with grease or butter. Needless to say, I did not use that can. I pulled the green recycle one out and used it. When mousekeeping came for t&t, she took the normal can and did not clean and replace it. All in all, we had a great trip. The weather was nice and we were there for 11 days. I just had to vent and air out. Thanks for listening!!

Any time you find something missing/not up to par, call housekeeping or the front desk. They tend to take care of it ASAP. They don't always have the time to inspect every single item in the unit to see if something is missing (or we'd be checking in after 6:00 p.m.) so they appreciate being advised when something's amiss. My guess is the maid didn't look into the can to notice the grease problem. I'm sorry you had problems with the unit on this trip.

My friends had a burned out bulb in the porch light when they arrived. It was taken care of right away and this was after 10:00 p.m.

Pam is absolutely right. We have always had GREAT response when we have called housekeeping about a problem. I certainly hope you did not just complain here without also calling attention to the problem at the resort.

If anything is missing or not up to par - then call housekeeping - if they can't solve the problem to your satisfaction - then call the management - they can move you without the extra charge - the front desk can't.

NEVER take a handicapped room if you don't need it - they have several cabnets gone too - less room to put your stuff.

also the handicapped rooms have less people stay in them - I have always had more trouble with these rooms than the others.

I have had to call not only housekeeping but maintence (same number) to fix it up - the door won't close ......

The spatula, scrub pad, and pillowcases were promptly delivered. DH did not "want to make a big deal" out of the shower issue. Must be a guy thing!! I guess we learned our lesson about taking a h/c room. Never again. And yes, I missed those cabinets in the bathroom. I think next time we will be getting a 2 br. The kids (9,6) are getting tired of sleeping with eachother on the sofa bed (girl, boy). I would also have them use their own toilet at 2 a.m.!! Time to start looking for an add-on.

I hope in the future when members & guests have some problems/concerns/issues with their DVC unit, that they will call housekeeping, engineering, the front desk, etc. One can come here & vent, but the problem needs to be taken care of at the time it is noticed. Unfortunately we can listen, but we cannot change anything in the unit.

We also have had issues and Mouskeeping was quick to respond. We have a habit of checking inventory when we get there. Unfortunately it is not unusual for spatulas and potholders and the like to grow legs.

We once had a big stain on the rug in front of the TV which they spot treated immediately. They even offered to shampoo the entire carpet, which we declined. We suggested they do it the day we check out.

Do not take a handicap room would be my advice. I was offered one once myself, said no. They have a problem at OKW when they know they have too many handicap rooms and not enough people to fill them who really need them. For me personally the best part of the one bedroom is the shower, I often think of building one just like in my home. You do not have that type of shower in an handicap room.

I'm the type that doesn't like to complain either, but when I notice problems I'll call housekeeping. There may be a problem with a new housekeeper. They need the feedback. If management is not notified, the problem is passed on to the next occupants.

I'd ditto everyone else by saying call Housekeeping/Maintenenace right away. I won't say our room has always been picture perfect, but things have always been quickly corrected when not right.
