Aloha!
Narrowing down choices for June 19 WESTERN for me, DH & 18yo DS. Really want QUIET location! Any ideas? Is it noisy near storage areas? Was considering in aft area? Are adjoining rooms noisier than not?

HELPPPPP!

I like category 7 on deck 7 aft (all cat. 7 rooms are aft). There's not as much traffic as between the elevators, and these rooms are convenient to the aft balcony on deck 7, as well as the stairs to the restaurants and to deck 9. I've never stayed on decks 6 or 5, but deck 6 has the most rooms of any deck on the ship, and deck 5 houses the kids clubs and movie theater, so my reasoning behind picking deck 7 was originally because I thought it would be more quiet. I don't know if this has any basis in fact, but I liked deck 7 so much I've stuck with it.

We had cabin 7118 on the 9/25 Wonder cruise. We heard no noise at all and were the last cabin before the slightly obstructed verandas began. We thought it was a great location.

I stayed in 6090 (cat 6) on the 2/22 Eastern, and I liked its location very much. It's a non-connecting room (actually has a little extra barrier between 6090 and 6088), doesn't have a room directly across the hall (less door slams), is located above the lifeboats (so no possible noise from below) and is located about halfway between the midship and aft elevators - so there is less foot traffic, and both sets of elevators are equally convenient.

Even with its quiet location, I still needed earplugs to sleep at night, because all the creaks and moans from the ship were a little too distracting. But that's probably just me. :p

From what I've heard from other DISers, adjoining/connecting staterooms are definitely more noisy - you can hear a lot from the other cabin. Something to avoid!

6090 is the only stateroom I've had experience with, so that's it for my advice!

all our cabins have been fairly quiet (we have beeen cat. 5 and 6) although I think a great deal of your quiet - or lack there of- would be due to your neighbors, if you have yellers, or wall pounders next door it won't matter where you are.

We were in 5622, and loved it bc we only had a neighbor on one side, and nobody across the hall, just the service area/elevator. The last night it was a little noisy bc of the CMs moving luggage, but otherwise it was a very peaceful location. We were worried at first bc it looked close to the elevators but we never heard a sound from the hallway. The only noise I remember is our neighbor when she was on her verandah.

Anything forward of the forward elevator or aft of the aft elevator have the potential for the least amount of traffic.

Others have pointed out (in this or other threads), Deck 8 can get some noise from chairs moving around on Deck 9, and Deck 6 has the most number of cabins. I have also heard that cabins at the rear of the ship have a nice hum from the engines that helps make things seem a little more quiet (sort of helps lul you to sleep).

Aloha,

We stayed in 7086, and it was really quiet, unless the keiki's stay running in the halls or are bouncing about in the other rooms, auwe! :\

As others have posted, you may hear people talking in the halls, or on the verandahs, and knocking around in the other room. Or you may be lucky and have really quiet neighbors. :teeth:

:earsgirl: Thanks for all the great replies!

You all must think I'm some kinda princess princess: to expect PEACE & QUIET on a family cruise..
