Thursday 4/1/04-Left for Disney at 12:30pm or so. Checked in at All-Stars Movies about 3:00pm. We actually received the building we requested, I was so surprised! I used the suggestion from Allearsnet.com to fax a room request in 4 days prior to arrival and although many have said it doesn’t work, it did for us. We got a great room in the Dalmatian bldg. and a connecting room with my folks that I also asked for in my faxed request. The kids love the Dalmatians, Thank you room gods!
After checking in and getting settled we left to head over for our PS at 6:10pm at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge for my parents’ anniversary dinner. I stashed birthday and anniversary decorations in a suitcase and DH and I snuck back to the room while my parents took the kids down to the bus stop. We pretended we left something back in the room (so clever!) and we quickly set out her gifts and put up a birthday banner, balloon, tablecloth and confetti in our room for little DD’s birthday and an Anniversary balloon and my parents’ anniversary gift in their room. We met them down at the bus stop and waited almost a full 25 minutes before the AK bus finally pulled up. We were about to give up and drive ourselves when the bus came. My kids said “April Fool’s!!” I didn’t think it was so funny! We had to transfer at AK to an AKL bus and got into Boma on the nick of time!
It was very busy but we got right in. Our waitress Kimberly was very nice. She told us about some of the specials on the buffet, took our drink orders and we were on our way. The food was a bit exotic (strange) but we are open to anything so it was a fun experience.
The Prime Rib and Potatoes with Afritude were delicious and served as my main meal plus several samplings of other offerings from the buffet.
The dessert buffet was awesome, especially the chocolate coconut tiramisu and of course, the zebra domes.
After dinner we explored the lodge, stopped outside to hear a storyteller at the bon-fire and tried to spot animals in the dark. We were able to see a few which satisfied the kids.
We headed back to our room via bus to MK (AK now closed) and then transferred to an All-Stars bus from there.
Back in our rooms everyone was surprised with the decorations and gifts. Little DD opened all of her presents and was very happy. We called it a night and went to bed early-big day tomorrow at MK!

;)

I am anxious for our trip in three weeks.......thanks so much for your great report.....did they say that the Dalmatian bld was a preferred bld or is it just Fantastia.....thanks again

Hello Pumba-The Dalmatian Bldg. is not a preferred building but it's very close to everything and in a great location.

Have fun on your trip!

Sounds like a great start. Do they have bon fire's often at AKL? Anyone know?
