Hey gang, sorry if this has been asked already but I was wondering. Does anyone know the approximate distance between WL and the Trails End joint at the campgrounds? Have any of you walked it before? If so, how long does it take approximately?

Rick,

It's a little over a mile from Trails-End to Wilderness Lodge, the walk could be done at a easy pace in about 20 minutes. I'm guessing on the walk time because we either take the bus, boat or bikes.

I'd say MAGIC is about right--right at a mile. I've run the distance a few times and can make it from the walkway intersection near the Villas to the petting zoo in about 7 minutes, making that slightly under a mile. It's a flat, broad sidewalk, actually, and can be quite enjoyable if you manage to catch some wildlife about. Enjoy! :paw:

Is the walkway lit (lighted) from the WL to Ft. Wilderness ?

ie coming back from HDD to WL - walk it ?

Is the path safe ?

according to Samantha Brown when she did the WL episode of Great Hotels, it is a mile trail thru the woods.

I don't recall lights of any sorts, though the path does parallel the bus route into the campground in places, so there may be some street lights along the way. It is a very broad sidewalk, so would be hard to miss even in the dark, and as for safe, I'm guessing it's quite so. There are no lions, and tigers, and bears (oh, my!), though I have seen a hawk with prey in his talons sitting along the walk as I ran by. It's fairly well-traveled, so I wouldn't worry about any other safety issues, either. :paw:

The path is about 1 mile long. It is not lite. You can rent bikes to ride it also.
