Quick question on existing reservation

We arrive August 6 at Contemporary. Booked thru Disney and have package with tickets. Was thinking of upgrading to 5 Day park hopper instead of 4 Day park hopper. First call system down but rep said $30 to upgrade. I called back and this rep said $50 fee for changing plus ticket increase since 9 days out. Which is correct?
 
Typically when they are gaining revenue from the change they will waive the change fee. But they are in within their rights to collect the fee. However, Disney is notoriously inconsistent and you could get a third answer if you call back. Can you just upgrade when you arrive to avoid all of the phone nonsense?

If the next CM you speak with tries to charge you the change fee, I would simply tell them it was your understanding that if you were raising the price of your package with your change, the fee would be waived. If that doesn't work, ask to speak with a supervisor. If THAT doesn't work, I would upgrade at the resort!
 
Any change made at this point can be charged a $50 fee. That is policy. Sometimes they will wave it, but it's not a guarantee and not to be expected.
 
We change our reservations pretty regularly and have never been charged a fee when changing to a longer stay. Guess it's really luck of the draw. If they wont help you over the phone I would try to do it in person. Good Luck.
 
UPDATE

I called right before 11 and got great CM who never mentioned fee. Upgraded and was happy and thanked him. He told me how to view in MDE and I was set to do FP. Of course it didn't update so I waited until 730 when they were open this morning and got fantastic CM. He couldn't figure what last night guy did as it just showed a credit on account for cost increase. After a hold he figured out and fixed. I was able to get FP for BTMRR, HM and POC for next Sunday evening. We land 230 and first FP at 630. Have rental car and can walk from Contemporary to MK.

This is a good example of the strategy everyone should use when dealing with phone CMs: If at first you don't succeed, call, call again.

Last night I didn't even mention fee, neither did CM. If it was mentioned I would have questioned it. Also I think being courteous helps, I read so often how people complain about CMs on phone. While planning this trip I've talked to at least 10 with changes, tours etc and they are all great!
