Quick question about measurement...

Hello all you resourceful DISers!!!!!


I had a few questions about measurement...

1. Is the US the only country that still uses a customary system of measurement? (inches, yards, pounds, quarts, etc)

2. Where did the metric system originate and when?

I am student teaching in fourth grade and beginning a chapter on the metric system. I always like to give some interesting background information at the beginning of each chapter.

Thanks Dan! I printed the one about the "Short Comparison". It has some info that fourth graders can learn by and get a few laughs from as well! I'll think about you in the morning as I am teaching it!!!
