Quick question about checked luggage

Is it ok if I pack a couple of bottles of water in my checked luggage? I know I can't carry it in my carry on. I plan on packing most of our stuff in a carry on but if I could check a bag with my snacks and water that would be awesome! We are flying southwest so no baggage fees. It will be a short 4 day 3 night trip to WDW!

Yes, but I would double wrap them in ziploc bags so they don't leak if anything happens.

Well, you can, but most will ask you not too. If for any reason those water bottles break, pop or whatever, then you have water over yours and everybody elses luggage. Also, you have to be careful of weight. SWA does let bags fly free, but only if they're under 50 pounds. If you want bottled water, you could try using a grocery delivery service, or just buy them at the resort.

Thank you! Don't worry I will make sure they are protected. It will only be a few bottles. I just can't see me paying $3.00 a bottle and I refuse to drink Florida water.

One 16 oz bottle of water weighs about 1 lb, so you can see that it could add up to a lot of weight very quickly, never the less the issue of leaking that others have mentioned.

I understand it seems crazy to spend $3.00 on a bottle of water but I'd highly caution against transporting water in your checked luggage. I'd recommend as another poster mentioned, doing a grocery run or ordering a case of water from either a grocery delivery service or have it shipped directly to the resort from a Staples or similar company.

You can order an entire case of water from costco for about $7 or $8, including shipping and you don't have to be a member.

I would order 4 or 5 days before your arrival. Send it to:

I can't imagine why it wouldn't get there in time. You can google the address - I've found most of the hotel info pages on AllEars list addresses - perhaps the hotel info pages here list addresses as well. (I didn't check.)

I wouldn't pack water. You can get it very cheap at a grocery store or at a resort's convenience store. Don't Disney resorts have convenience stores? The last few resorts I stayed at had stores where you could buy small cases of water for reasonable prices (not cheap, but not $3 a bottle).

Whatever you do, don't pack peanut butter. Apparently on an xray it looks like plastic explosives.
