At Blue Zoo, Narcoosee's, Jiko--no enforcement of any code, diners in shorts and T's (especially at Jiko) in abundance. Blue Zoo had probably the most "business casual" diners, and the fewest (in fact, just ONE ) kids of the places we ate. Jiko seemed to have even more children than Narcoosee's, which suprised me somewhat given the fireworks view and the Halloween party going on at the MK.
Just off the cuff guess at percetages of business casual v. theme park casual:
Blue Zoo 95% business, 5% theme.
Narcoosees-80% business, 20% theme
Jiko-50-50.
And in all honesty, no one even noticed or seemed to care how anyone else was dressed-it really didn't matter.
As an aside-the other spots we ate (Big River, Coral reef, Boatwrights) were almost all entirely theme park casual, with just a smattering of business casual at each. V&A dress was the usual-all the men I saw had coats and ties, about 3/4 of the ladies in nice dresses, rest in nice pants-suits. Nothing exceptionally formal that I could see that evening.

I noticed this at Jiko on Sat. night. I made sure that me, my sister and daughter were all dressed nicely only to find that many other diners were not.

Hubby and I have found this to be true. We always had taken nicer clothes to change into for dinner...and we will not be doing it anymore.

WDW needs to take their ques from DL. DL learned long ago that it was just to hard to enforce a dress code in fine dining restaurants for people coming from theme parks. Now you can go in your park attire, enjoy your meal and head back to parks if you want. All the restaurants were packed while we were in DL. No one looked bad, no swim suits.

As long as I don't have to look at dirty bare feet, or tops & bottoms that don't cover what needs covering (i.e., swimsuit tops or bottoms, tank tops/muscle), I'm fine. Normal park attire does not bother me - even in the more upscale restaurants.

Thanks for the report!

Disney's rules are just that you can't have raggy clothing, tank tops, t-shirts, flip flops and baseball caps.

Yachstmen had plenty of diners in shorts, tank tops and flip flops. DH and i were dressed nicely (skirt, heels, collared shirt and tailored pants). I was surprised how many kids were there.

We missed out on Yachstmen steak house cause the CM on the phone said no shorts or sneakers. Well I didn't pack and pants so we didn't try it. The next day I talked to someone who said there were alot of people in shorts.

This is 1 place I really wanted to try - not to mention we ended up with extra credits left on our dining plan - we gave them to friends.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like same as always.

I recently made some ARs for a few months from now and noticed that the CM didn't spell out any specific requirements for business casual spots which is a change from the last 6-9 months. Also didn't metion a dress code at all for Narcoossee's.

I made an ADR for Narcoosee's last month (for mid-November) - the CM that I spoke with made it a point to mention the dress code for Narcoosee's, and even asked me if I needed her to describe it in more detail. No problem for me, DH doesn't even own a pair of jeans, and his idea of dressing down is wearing a polo shirt instead of a full button-down :) At most restaurants, the attire of my fellow patrons usually does not bother me, but I would be disappointed to see shorts and T-shirts at what is billed as an upscale restaurant.

What's everyone think of of a guy wearing a pair of nice shorts, a shirt with a collar, nice (but casual) shoes to Citrico's and Flying Fish? It would be the same outfit I would wear to these places except instead of the pants, I would wear nice shorts. On this trip for this weekend, I want to pack light and don't feel like packing pants this time around.

Interesting. When I recently made ADR's for California Grill and Coral Reef, the CM told me that both places had dress codes and that at a minimum, business casual was required, but that "most people really dressed up".

I ended up cancelling those reservations after talking with the rest of the group because no one thought they'd feel like worrying about that after a day in the parks.

Disney says Business Casual is a nice pair of shorts or jeans, polo shirt and a pair of loafers.

Well-in spite of whatever they say--or said-or continue to say--or mean-or THINK they mean-- it isn't being enforced!! Of that much I am certain!!!
They would be much better off enforcing it, or just saying no swim wear and nothing else.
I really hate seeing folks like NJR and Diznyfanatic missing out on good meals for no reason, or others who don't really want to dress up, but do--and then find they really didn't have to.
And at the Coral Reef, almost nobody was in anything BUT shorts and T shirts!!! Any CM who intimated that folks "really dressed up" there is completely out of touch with reality---.

I made an ADR for Coral Reef for our Dec trip and nothing was said about a dress code. :confused3

Any restaurant inside a park would be NUTS to have a dress code that didn't accept "park attire".

Best wishes-

I found most of the restaurants too cold for sleeveless tops. :teeth:

What's the big thing against strappy tops for ladies in restaurants in the US? I must say I hate men in vest tops (i.e. sleeveless tops, not t-shirt shape) but I have some very smart strappy tops (which cost a fair bit too!) but which would seem to be unacceptable. :confused3

Nothing wrong with strappy tops or tanks for the ladies. The "no tank top" rules at finer restaurants are created specifically for some of us men folk who seem to have hair flying out of every hole, present company not included!! :teeth:

We have reservations for California Grill, YSH, Narcoossee's and Citricos. The only restaurant that mentioned a dress code was CG. We've been there before and I know better.
