Quick Annual Pass Question

In everyone's opinion, is it better to purchase the ap's over the phone or online? and why?

My opinion is that it's better to purchase over the phone because I couldn't get the on-line order form to work, and someone else on here had the same experience.

I am somewhat confused on the AP thing. Let me start with what I know. If I purchase now, I will receive a voucher but I do not activate it until I am going down to WDW in late November.

I guess my question is what can I do with my voucher currently?

Purchase discounted tickets to say Mickey's Xmas thing?

Book discounted rooms?

Thanks for your assistance.

The answer is yes to all your questions. You can use the voucher number on the back of the card, which will also be your pass number. The only thing you must do if you are reserving discounted rooms, is that you must have the actual pass in hand before checking into those rooms. You can also use the voucher number to purchase the DDE card for the 20% discount on restaurants at WDW.

I hope I get this right
I am planning on two trips, 1st - Dec 9, 2005 , 2nd - Oct 1, 2006

If I purchase my annual pass now August 2005 and activate the voucher in Dec 2005, it will still be good for my Oct 2006 trip

I would also like to purchase the DDE card, and I'm thinking I should purchase that card sometime around end (?) of Oct 2005 so it would still be good for my Oct 2006 trip, also would I rec'v the DDE card in time for my Dec 2005 trip?

I purchase the AP thru DVC member ?, is it the same for the DDE?

Thanks for any info you can give.
I am a new DVC owner and still learning
This website is awesome

Hope it is not taboo to ask this, but How much do they cost?

I have read the entire thread and someone mentioned 8 day MYW pass being the break even point, that would put it at around the $200 mark which sounds a little low to me. Still considering becoming DVC member and this info could help big time.

Also How many APs can a member purchase and for whom, are my parents and adult siblings acceptable? I assume spouse and kids are automatic.

this board rocks, learn something new every morning I log on.

Since there seems to be some knowledgable folks here! My question pertains to AP renewals. Last year we renewed (pre DVC discount) in December and paid $361.04 per pass. This included the renewal discount. When we renew this year do we get the renewal discount plus the $75 DVC discount or does the DVC discount trump the traditional renewal discount? And does anyone know what that renewal cost would be? Thanks!!

Don't quote me on this but...

I think Discounted (DVC) AP's are ONLY for those in the same household. They will check ID's, to be sure.

One major drawback for having AP's is, while they are a great savings (I think breakeven is probably 6-7 days after the discount, give or take), you tend to visit more frequently. We'll have 5 trips done under 1 years worth of AP's. Typically, we only go 2-3X a year. So, the savings is spent on additional airfare, dining, etc.

On the other hand, I've never been happier! My frequent WDW visits are like therapy!
