We have ressies for Friday night, I just found out that they have somewhat of a dress code. Does anyone know if we'll be booted for wearing shorts? Anyone ever dine in shorts at Mortons?

If it is the Mortons of chicago steakhouse we have one here. We have been usually for Christmas Eve, or other special occasions because this is more of a 4-5 star dining place. It's dressy, and upscale with wine and champagne and the menu is all Ala Carte, so you have to order sides like potato and such extra. It is a really good steakhouse, but it is NOT at least here in hawaii a shorts place. :bride: :groom:

I know the web site claims that shorts arent recommended, but I think the fact that its in Orlando it may be different.

The one in Orlando is not different. I would say if you wear shorts, you may feel out of place.

Just because the location is warmer doesn't mean people still don't dress appropriately for dinner. Heck, it's hot in Houston but people still dress nicely for a nice dinner. It's different if it was located AT a themepark but it's not.

I would not show up in shorts at that kind of restaurant. You could always cancel the reservation and try a more casual spot if you want to dine in shorts - there are lots of great places to eat in Orlando! ;)

I would give the Orlando location a call and just chat about it with them. Casual clothes, including shorts are much more acceptable in Florida than anywhere else I believe.

I think you should not wear shorts. Khakis are acceptable though.

All I know is that my steak loving DH has proclaimed that Morton's has the "best steak he has ever tasted." :) Have a great time!

While wearing shorts in Florida restaurants is more acceptable than in other locales, I would not wear them in Mortons. I ate at a Mortons in Boca Raton wearing a dress shirt with a jacket and tie and dress slacks. It is definitely an upscale restaurant, one where the busboy constantly removes the crumbs from your table and refills the water glass after virtually every sip. A table for two turned out to be a table for three because that guy was around so much. :teeth:

Morton's is not on Disney property and shorts would not be appropriate. Yes there are many restaurants in Orlando where I do not wear shorts. I believe that the shorts anywhere mentality is only on Disney property even thought I do not agree with it. As an Orlando resident it really bothers me that we can go to a nice Disney restaurant for a special occasion and have people not dressed properly for dinner in a nice restaurant. This seems especially prevalent at California Grill. Even though you are on vacation you can dress appropriately for dinner. I know that many people who do this would not do the same back home.

I live in hawaii where everyone is in Aloha shirts and casual gear. Mortons is NOT a causal place really. No matter if it is Florida. You can take the chance, but I have a feeling you will feel more out of place, or they may ask you to dress a bit more business casual. Enjoy Mortons :bride: :groom:

If it's like Mortons steakhouse we have in Chicago I would not wear shorts. I've never seen shorts worn at the one in Chicago either.

You will feel silly in shorts in this restaurant. Many of the diners will be business people dressed in suits (this may be because few of us can afford the 100+ per person prices unless on an expense account) May I suggest that you go to Mortons web site and check out the menu before you go. My sister in law almost had a stroke when she realized that everything (potato, salad, veggies) was a seperate charge. When she got the bill and her Martini was $21 I thought she would cry. They went because they got a $100 gift certificate as a gift. She said it was the most expensive gift they ever got, dinner ended up costing close to $400 with the tip!

We dine in Mortons frequently where we live. We also belong to their VIP club, so we have dined in many different locations while on vacation, including Orlando. Shorts/park attire is not permitted. Business casual....it is a more formal type of restaurant, which is so nice. I don't even think flip flops are allowed. We love Morton's, it is a great dining experience. Make sure you get the full presentation.

I called them before we went, they said it would be okay and we went in shorts...to be honest, compared to others....I was over dressed. :confused3

Its Orlando....there is no dress code.

Also, dinner was okay. Had a much better meal at Ruths Chris a few months ago.

AK and Epcot tomorrow!

1) I wouold not go into Morton's in shorts!
2) I don't always wear a jacket, but always a collared shirt and dress slacks.
3) This is not a casual dining experience.
4) If you pay (average) $170 per couple, shorts are not appropriate.

1) As I stated above, I called them and they said shorts would be fine.
2) I'm on vacation, I got shorts.
3) Neither is some restaurants in Disney, but shorts are fine there.
4) It cost me $350....I dont think they cared about my attire.

Thanks DizGeek. IMO you ended all discussion by calling them and asking. If they say it's fine who cares what anyone else says.
