Quick ? About Buying a Blackout Day Ticket

I have a PAP, but my friend that has a SoCal AP wants to go to the parks next week, which is a blackout day for her. I know there is a $45 fee to enter on a blackout day. Do we just go to the regular ticket booth, show her AP, and pay the $45? Do they give her a separate park-hopper ticket for the day, or add something to her AP saying that she paid? Just curious how it works for her.

Thanks!

My best recollection is that she will have to show AP at the ticket window, and will get a park ticket, and then have to show both for the remainder of the day. Her park ticket will be used for fp's also. I hope someone else can either confirm this or correct me, it's been a while. :)

Edited to add:

From Disneyland.com:

Blockout day tickets are available for purchase and are valid on a day that your Annual Passport is blocked out but you wish to visit the Resort Theme Parks. Blockout Day tickets are Park Hopper® tickets and are currently $45 each (prices subject to change without notice). These tickets are available at the Main Entrance Ticket Booths and may not be purchased in advance of the day you wish to visit. Annual Passholders must present their valid Annual Passport and valid Blockout day ticket to be admitted into the Disneyland® Resort Theme Parks on a Blockout day.

The one time we bought blackout passes we went to the ticket window to do so. It was very easy to do. :)

Yup, you have to buy them in person, day of blockout, AP in hand :) You have to show both pass and AP when you enter DL/DCA. I seem to remember that it's the blockout pass that you use to get FP, but I might be mistaken. It's been at least a couple of years since I bought a blockout.

Great, thanks everyone! I know it's not a big deal, I'm just the type that likes to be uber prepared ;) I'll let her know :)

When we went in May and got the block out pass, it was a white piece of cardstock, about 3"x4" that we had to show to get in the gates. I *think* they did something to over-ride our annual passes. Then we used our annual passes for getting FPs.

HTH.

My mom did this on Saturday with her DAP. She got the day park hopper ticket, and that was what we had to use to get FP for the remainder of the day. The same day, we upgraded our park hoppers. When we did so at DCA, he gave us a white printed exception pass, they scanned our AP at the gate and we used our AP for FP the rest of the evening.

My mom got her block out at the ticket window, but we were told you could do this at guest services as well. She tried to buy it the night before, but was told she had to come back on the day of.

I did so a few days ago too. Best thing is that you can use both, the blockout ticket and your annual pass to get 2 fastpasses ^.~

We tried both my mom's ticket and her AP as we did not know which one would produce an AP. Her AP did not, only her day pass gave a valid FP.

I haven't done the math, but it might be worthwhile for her to use the $45 and upgrade to a Deluxe Annual Pass. Unless you are going on Saturday or a day the DAP is blocked.

I can't imagine the AP working for FPs since they don't scan it at the gate.

She has a SoCal Select, so an upgrade wouldn't get her to a Deluxe. She is unblocked in three weeks though so I told her she might just want to wait a couple of weeks and save the $$.

<delete> <delete> <delete> Never mind. Antibiotics = brain fog = read ^ totally wrong. Moving on..... Dancing smiley for all. :cool1:

You use the block out pass for FP's, your AP will not work. this is first hand knowledge, we have done this and we were not given FP's with our AP's. We tried because we were curious but it didn't work, it said our admission was not valid for that day. :)
