Quick 3 day trip possible next week without planning?

Hi everybody, my wife and I haven't been to WDW in 5 years. We now live within driving distance. I was supposed to go back to my homestate the weekend of May 6th, for a reunion for my old rock band, and see a friend graduate from Nurse Practitioner school (she was also the rhythm guitarist in the band). But it looks like the reunion won't happen, so my wife suggested we go to Disney for a couple of days. Is it possible to get a room at a value resort, and spend a couple of days in MK without all the planning usually needed for a longer trip? We will be going during the week, not on the weekend. Absolutely!
Call Disney and tell them what you want (or use a TA), set up your MDE account, arrange any ADRS (keeping in mind that people cancel right up to the 24 hrs prior) and arrange some FPS. (I also recommend doing that with a CM by phone, I've had a great deal of pixie dust when dealing with humans vs. computer). Anything is possible with Disney!
