Questions using Lyft/Uber to/from CSR to parks?

We've never used Uber or Lyft before, but wanted to get familiar with the whole process before our upcoming trip staying at CSR. I understand the general concept of how it works, but where do the drivers pick up and drop off at WDW? Specifically at CSR... do they only pick up at the Gran Tower/Lobby parking or do they go to the more specific areas like Cabanas, Ranchos, etc? I'm pretty sure I read that for Magic Kingdom the drivers drop off at TTC, but I also read a nice tip to instead get dropped off at the Contemporary and walk over. Seems easier. Then when coming back from the different parks... where would we catch the Lyft/Uber drivers? Is there a special area for those cars to wait? I'm imagining hundreds of Uber drivers waiting somewhere as many people are leaving the park. How do we find the right driver/car?

Pickup locations in the above referenced post are not current.

MK is still at the TTC bus lot, but most seem to prefer CR.

DHS is at the curb of the handicapped parking, adjacent to the Skyliner station; there are signs.

Epcot & AK entrances are under reconstruction. If you didn't arrive via rideshare, ask a parking CM (yellow striped shirt) for the current location. You can usually find one around the tram pickup. At Epcot, you can also go out IG and walk to the porte cochere of a nearby resort.

The problem with CS was that there were unattended gates blocking vehicle access to the lodging areas. I don't know whether they are still there after the recent expansion. If they are, you will have to walk to the porte cochere to get an Uber or Lyft.

There aren't hundreds of cars waiting at park closing. The most I've seen might have been around a dozen. Be sure to verify the car make and license plate against the app.

As Joel noted, the Everything about Uber/Lyft thread is 4+ years old. There has also been a LOT of construction/redesign/etc going on recently at WDW, so a lot of things that were true 4 years ago are very different now.

In addition, both Uber and Lyft have made major changes in how they approach both riders and drivers, have changed their pricing and vehicle types, and a ton of other fundamental changes.

So I would encourage readers to look at general themes in the thread, and pay close attention to the date that some "fact" was posted to the thread. The older the post, the more likely it is to be inaccurate today.

The same is true of well-meaning posters who relate experiences they had a year, two years, three years ago. It just ain't like that these days!

I took Lyft a bunch in August although not at CSR. At POFQ when you book your ride you can move the pin to one of several pickup areas outside of guest buildings, but with the resort being so small I just chose the lobby. I would assume it works similarly at CSR and the other mods.

In terms of coming back from parks, I second the suggestion to ask a cast member about the rideshare pickup location. There is almost always one near the bus board. Like PP have said with all the construction going on these things are changing. You’ll know which vehicle is yours because when your ride is located the app screen updates with the make/model and license plate number. Best safety practice is to always check the plate number of the vehicle before getting in, especially for more common makes/models like Toyota sedans (I feel like half my rides even at home are in black Corollas). The driver should also address you by your name when you first approach.
