To those of you who responded with helpful feedback - thank you very much! I greatly appreciate your thoughts and opinions.
We are excited about her new school. Yes, my husband and I did sit down with the curriculum director of the pre-school (their title, not mine) last week and we were excited that they teach the children through mostly play and hands on type activities. They use The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool. My daughter enjoys learning and is very excited about letter recognition and is already trying to sound out words to read; she is 4.
We wanted to make sure she would be encouraged to continue to be excited about learning. We wanted to make sure their discipline matched ours - positive feedback is the key. Yes, we do want her to continue to learn her letters – because she loves to. Every night she asks either my Dh or I to “spell” words with her.
To those of you who decided to either attack, make fun of, or judge my desire for my daughter to have a strong education, thank you as well. It reminded me of why I rarely visit this board.
Honestly, I am saddened and disgusted that my question regarding the education of my daughter has deteriorated to sarcastic responses and attacks on fellow parents. Obviously, we must all care very deeply about the education of our children; I assume that is why there is such a strong response.
