Here's a question (or two) for all you Weight Watchers........

Do you "spend" the same amount of points per meal each day. (For instance, breakfast at 6 points each day). I am finding that I tend to vary things quite a bit and I am wondering if I would be better off to keep things more consistent. Some days I am just not hungry in the morning and will just eat a piece of fruit mid-morning and have a larger lunch or supper. Also, some days I will have a light lunch and then a larger supper. Will doing this slow my weight loss?

What about total points used per day? I find that I am tending to use the minimum # of points each day. Is there any advantage to mixing it up between minimum & maximum points?

I'm interested to know as I've just started the program myself (I will be starting week #5 on Thursday) :p

My breakfasts tend to be 6-8 points and lunches about 5-6 points. My dinners really tend to vary, I get off work late and so I'm usually not the one cooking.

Overall, I tend to average out at 23 points a day which is in the middle of my point range (20-25).

Hi Mowsie!
My breakfast points are always the same, but the rest of the day is always a mix. I am an 'unofficial' WWer but I think it is the total count that matters not, when you use them. Definitely trying mixing up your min and max points though. I find I lose much better when I have a couple of high days mixed in with those minimum point days.
I am sure you will get a better answer from some of the other WWers. :)

is key I think, at least for me. I tend to have around 4 pts for breakfast, then lunch is anywhere from 4 - 7; midafternoon snack around 2 - 4 pts and then dinner according to what I have left. I really think variety keeps me from getting bored and my body from getting in a metabolism slump. (I'm unofficial WW too)

my range is 18 - 23

I'm not counting AP now as I'm not losing and want to kick start that again. I will use them some thought once if I ever I hit maintainence phase. I do use banked pts in the form of a "cheat" meal once in a while

Hi there,

You could do it either way and still loose, but your body can actually benefit from mixing the points you use around at each meal. Our bodies tend to re-act better when you keep it guessing. The good ole metabolism gets confused, and this is a good thing. It keeps it guessing and working full throttle!

I also think that you can do better loosing weight by mixing up your points and sticking closer to the higher end. Everyone is different though, and you have to try it different ways and see how your body re-acts. I always see better results when I stick towards the high end. I usually have banked points that I rarely use, so I don't use them all every day...........but I don't feel guilty when I do. I am in the 20-25 range and try to stay with at least 23 or 24 at minimum. I also don't feel bad if I go over by one or two points if I have banked points for the weeks. If my body is telling me to eat, I try to obey it.

I have lost much more each week this year than last year, and I think it's because I am eating at the higher end of my points. Last year I tried to stay at the low end thinking that I could loose faster. Then I learned that you could actually gain if you didn't eat enough. After loosing almost 20 lbs (after tonight's WI, I think it will be close to 20lbs) in less than 2 months, I can honestly say that eating more does help. I eat 2 slices of pizza each week, and I allow myself to have things that I want (bratwurst, steak, hamburgers, chicken fried steak, fried shrimp, andes mint). Now I don't eat these things every day, but when my family was eating it, or we went out to eat.........I worked them into my points. I haven't gone out of my points range once during these two months.

Hope this helps some..............Eat those points!

Melanie

Thanks for the replies, everyone. :D I was afraid that I was messing up by varying the points for my meals so much. I'm glad that's not the case. Also, I'm going to try mixing it up between min and max daily points and see what happens!

I mix up the points meaning I don't have the same amount every morning, noon and night. I agree with what Melanie wrote in that it's good to mix up points and stay to the higher end of the range, at least this seems to work for me. I'm back on WW and when I first did it I noticed that weight loss was slow for me and at the meetings the representative said it's probably from not eating enough and to always eat at least the minimum points, but you should have more because it helps the metablolism. I don't deny myself of certain foods I may want, I just don't over do it and make sure the food is accounted for points wise.
