Questions for those who have bought SSR

We are going to buy into DVC at SSR this week. After reading a few posts on this board there are a couple of things that are confusing to me.

If we buy tomorrow and choose to take the $10 credit we will not lose any points. What I don't know is which points those are. Are they 2003 points or 2004 points? If I have a choice of which use year I want (which is my next question about chosing a use year) and I pick June will I get 150 pts from 2003 and June 1, 2004 get 150 pts for 2004 or am I only getting 150 pts for June 2004?

In terms of use year, can you pick which use year or do they only have certain ones available now?

If we finance through Disney do you know when the date is to make a final payment before they charge interest? I've seen several different dates on this site and I was told by my guide that is was May 31.

If anyone who has bought SSR knows some of these answers I'd appreciate it. I'm excited about finally becoming a DVC member after waiting a year for the right timing.

The first available use year is dec 2003. so there are basically no 2003 points.

I think you can choose a use year through may 2004. i was told we wouldnt close until april, but that was when the first available use year was may 2004. i would think you will close prior to your use year.

the $10 credit is to not travel before next summer, not a rent back of points from your first year.

Interesting. I have a use year of December at BCV. So if I add on at SSR I'd get points thsi coming December, although the resort woudln't open until in the spring of 2004? I'm so confused. I thought that payments and dues woudln't even start until when the resort opened. Was it April or May 2004?

We just bought yesterday at SSR. We have a DEC use year.
December is the only Use year that will get 2003 points that we can start booking with on Jan 2 for May. If you don't plan to use the points during May 2004-Nov 2004, you would bank them.

Does that make sense? Hope so!
We thought it was more incentive to get in! We are looking forward to booking a May trip!

Coupel questions -
Using the $10 credit can you use those poinst you get in December 2003 for other DVC resorts or do you ahve to wait until May to use them?

Do you know when you'll close? Soon or will they hold it for later?
Did they take a deposit from you already?

When will dues start for you with the Decmber use year and if you financed when do thsoe payemnts start?

Really debating on adding on at VWL or at our home at BCV, but that longer contarct date is appealing to me. Woudl love to be able to hand that over to the grankids. Good incentives, too I think?!?

Well, we financed it and our first payment is not due until May. I don't know about using the points at the 7mth window to book elsewhere. I do know that as of Jan 2, we can book for May at SSR! That is our plan....

The 10 credit really made the points only $79 each and that is a better deal than MB for us because we don't have to sell back the points...we get our 2003 Dec points.

The longer time made a difference for us too! My dh is only 26 years old, so he was happy about the longer time.

As for deposit, they require 10% (of the total before incentive).

I don't know if my guide made an error, but I talked with him last night about adding on 95 points at SSR and he said sure, no problem.

Also, he mentioned the Dec. 2003 use year points which I'd be getting were not MB, as I didn't have to pay dues on them, BUT, I could only use them at SSR after it opened. I could not use them anywhere, like the developers points they are also offering.

You can't use SSR points for the other resorts like you can for the other home resorts!?!

It is my understanding that we can use our SSR points anywhere (just like OKW or BCV points), but not for a reservation
for a stay that would occur before SSR actually opens.

It's also my understanding that we can begin making SSR ressies using SSR points on Dec 1 (for stays on/after May 1). And we can begin making SSR ressies using non-SSR points in February (for stays on/after May 1).

I believe dvc_john has it right, if I understood my guide right.

The incentive I didn't take, developer points, could be used at any other DVC property as soon as we bought.
