For those of you living in Florida .......

Will the stores have beach toys (bucket and shovel sets)? We don't want to buy them here (even if we could find them) and have to pack them.

What about sandals for kids? My DS4's feet just grew an inch and the ones he wore this summer don't fit very well.

Can't find this kind of thing in New Jersey at this time of year. I was wondering what the chances are in Florida. Any particular store that would be better?

Thanks,
Diane

Hi- I don't live in FL, but my kids are always growing out of their shoes.

I found a great site that might be helpful.
www.shoesforkids.com

They have a wide selection of sandals!!

Or why don't you ask Shirley from The Perfect Gift? She has alot of knowledge about the Port area.

Good Luck!

Don't like there now, but we lived on the other side of FL for 3 years. You should be able to find beach toys etc year round at the tourist type shops near the beach. I'm not sure about sandals.

My suggestion for sand toys is to borrow them from the kids play area and don't sweat packing them. That works on Castaway Cay - if you are doing other beaches you will need toys

As far as sandals, I recommend Lands End - they keep suits and summer wear in stock all year round and then you can be sure of the size before you leave...last thing you need to to be running from store to store...

First off I do agree with Barbara about the sand toys, but if you still want them, the only place now that is carrying some at this time is BeachWave or Beach Unlimited here in Cocoa Beach - I found that Beach Unlimited is the most interesting shop to go into with great souviers from this area - also we have Beall's Outlet here in Cocoa Beach that always has sandals and "beachy type" clothes and shoes not only for adults but kids as well.
Hope this helps.
Always
Shirley

Thanks everyone ... it seems that what I feared is true ... it isn't summer in Florida in November.

The Lands End sandals look good and I'm going to order them. We need the sand toys for more than just Castaway Cay because we're doing 2 beach visits on our own. I'll try the beach shops your recommended Shirley. THANKS. (If we can't find them he'll make do with a paper cup and stick).

As a FL resident who buys lots of sandles for the family, you CAN'T go wrong with Lands' End. They will last forever, so even if they are a little big right now, your child should still be able to get more use out of them next summer.

We just returned from the 10/18 Magic. We went to RonJon's the night before. The do have sand toys there. It is open 24 hours, and there is lots to look at.

Good luck, and have fun!:sunny:

Hello NJ Cruisers--

I'm not really all that familiar with the East Coast of Florida as I live in Tampa Bay. I know that our beach areas around here are filled with store after store of beach-oriented gear. Year round they carry nothing but beach supplies, including towels, swimwear, beach toys, sandals, flip-flops, etc.

I would find it very difficult to believe that the East Coast didn't have stores that were similar!

Same here in NE FL, but it's only the beach tourist shops. Regular stores like Target, KMart, and Publix clear out all their summer stuff in September.

Thanks again everyone!!! You guys are great. I've ordered the sandals from Lands End because they are a MUST - can't have his toes hanging over the end of the sandals he has now.

Ron Jon's sounds like a great idea for the sand toys - thanks for letting me know that its open 24 hours. That is perfect. And, since Sand Toys aren't a MUST (like sandals) if it doesn't work out it won't be a big deal.

4 weeks until our first Disney Cruise .... we are SOOOO excited.

I live in lake Buena vista, just across wdw,and we have a lot of gift shops around here that sells everything that you need.and believe me there is a summer in Florida in November.by the way I just got a job in wilderness lodge.so if anybody is staying there I will be your cocktail server in territory lounge:Pinkbounc

Of course, you could always order a beach basket from Shirley at The Perfect Gift :) That way, you won't have to pack the items and bring them to the ship...they'll be waiting in the room for you! :)

Stepharoonie-that is a great suggestion!
