Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

Does anyone know what day and time the Tea Party with Characters is? I know you have to get tix from Guest Services but wondered what time and day it happens. THANKS!!!:lovestruc

The Tea Party was offered a couple of times. We went to the one on Sunday (Ketchikan Day) at 10:00am.

I had called and asked disney if we had to collect our bags or if they will be loaded on the bus and they told me you had to collect your own bags and bring them to the bus.
I think I will get our own transfer as I don't see it as a perk using disney transfer for this cruise

Has anyone posted/seen copies of the navigators from the second or third cruises yet? I know there was a difference or two from the inagural cruise.

We did this and were unpleasantly surprised by an "International Transaction Fee" on every CC transaction. I converted some cash on our final day in Vancouver to save on the fees. You might want to check before you go.

Were each of the International Transaction fees a set amount per transaction or a percentage of the total?

Ugh, I just checked my Disney Visa statement and found this too, a whole page of em....they were a small percent, it would be easier to call and ask the fee structure than try to match up which fee belongs to which charge...most of the fees hit at the same time.

I was sincere in my question. When my DH and I were in Canada 2 years ago, we used U.S. money to pay at self-park lots; I wanted to know the appropriate currency to use when tipping and should have been specific in my inquiry.

Thanks for all of the quick replies!

 As you could see from replies, I think most of us took your question about currency serious. It was a valid question!

As the PP said, they had them on a couple of days. We did the one on Tracy Arm day and I think it was around 4:30 or so. It was very Princess-y! My DD loved it, but there were some grown-ups and boys there that did not seem too happy with it.

These are imposed by the CC company and can vary. Currently, the Chase Sapphire card does not impose this fee, so we will be using it in Vancouver! Check with you cc company before you go as to whether the fees are acceptable to you.

Fees usually range from 1-3% and vary from credit card issuer to issuer. I'm pretty sure Disney Visa charges 3%.

Is this fee for all of the charges you charge on the ship or just charges you might make while in Vancouver? We leave in a little over a week, and I just want to make sure I'm informed before we leave. TIA!:goodvibes

Just charges made in Vancouver. Charges made onboard will be processed by DCL from their FL office. All of our onboard charges from the Med last year were processed out of FL, so I'm assuming the same thing for Alaska.

Thank you for your quick response!:) So it would probably be best to just use cash in Vancouver, right? We're only there for one night before our cruise, so I doubt we'd have a lot of expenses anyway, but I just want to be prepared. We're getting pretty excited!:thumbsup2

In the morning when you are ready you call Bell Services and they come up to your room and get your luggage. You don't see it again till it arrives in your room on the ship. It is a complimentary service. We used it and we also talked to some others who did. Very easy and nice to not deal with luggage more than you need to.

That is Awesome! I've heard that the Fairmont Waterfront where we are staying does the same thing, has anyone used the direct to the ship luggage service there? TIA!

For those worried about fees charged by using CC abroad (i.e. not US) - Capital One does not charge a conversion fee. We use our Capital One for all of our international travel since they do not charge foriegn conversion fees.

I have a cap one card, so that is a relief!

Yes. Lollipop's Mom downloaded navigators from the cruise last week (3rd one). Look for her Alaska May 17th info thread.

It looks like Semi-Formal night changed to the last night (was originally on the Ketchikan night)
