Hi,
I am very interested in purchasing in to the DVC. I live about 45 minutes from Disneyland and have 2 young children (5 and 10 mo). We want to be able to visit DW and DL and take Dcruises. What would a Disney Cruise, Category 3 or 4 run for 4 people in points? Why do you have to pick a home resort?

PLEASE forgive me for being naive, I have yet to receive my information in the mail, and seeing as how it's New Year's Weekend, may not be able to contact any retailers. PLUS I feel hearing from experienced travellers is the best way to make an informed decision.

Any advice from seasoned veterans DVC owners, where to start, how many points to start with, where to call 'home' would be greatly welcomed!!

TIA!

Worst case - Western Car. 7 night Peak Season 1122 points If you banked and borrowed you would need 374 points.

You dont really pick a home resort. Your home resort is the one you buy into. You Can book your Home resort Quicker than others. Makes it a better chance to get in the dates you want. So if you really only want to ever stay at Boardwalk buy into boardwalk.

Can't really answer how many points you should start with. Only you know how oten you would use them. If you only plan on going every other year or so you would need less points. Due to limited vacation time I got just enough points to go every year one bedroom at peak. but you might have a greater need.

Don't buy DVC unless you plan to use it almost always for staying at a DVC resort. It is an expensive way to cruise and to visit DL (unless Disney decides to build a DVC resort in California).

Best wishes -

It took my banked, current and about 20 borrowed points to go on my November Cruise.

That equals about $890 bucks for my 7 night Western plus the 75 bucks to book.

This cruise would have cost me $3000

Now I'm not taking into my buy in which when divided by 50 is $380

DVC Cruise $1980

Cash Cruise $3340 - Straight Disney price no tax

Unless you can find a Discount more than $1360 DVC is a Real good way to Cruise

Plus you can use your points for some people and pay cash for others.
