Questions about the thrilling Adventurers Club!

Howdy! I'm a newbie to all things WDW and have been finding loads of great information here, thanks to all of you. Planning for my trip is much easier now. Hopefully someone can answer a question or two I have regarding the Adventurers Club.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to visit the AC because I'm nuts about the whole 1930s pulp adventure theme! But I was wondering:

May one take photos there? I wish my fellow adventuring friends could visit with me, but I think a photo or two in those surroundings, maybe with some of the characters, would be a hoot for them to see. I think these would be the only 'character' pictures I'd be interested in at WDW (I hate having my picture taken, but I'd make an exception). Is this sort of thing allowed?

If so, (and here's the kind of goofy question), would be too much of a faux pas to attend in my own 1930s adventurer outfit? (My friends and I are role-playing gamers, and when we play our 1930s adventures, we sometimes dress up!) I mean, would that be too wrong of me? Would it make you, as a guest, edge away carefully from the weirdo? I wouldn't want to step on the performers' toes, or freak out the other guests. I just think it would be fun to play along in my aviatrix outfit or as my lady archaeologist :teeth:

(I can't help it, I love costuming...and since I won't be there for a Star Wars weekend to wear my Jedi robes, I thought this might be fun!)

It sounds so interactive--is it still fun for the more retiring visitors? My mother might want to go along and I would hate for her to be bored or uncomfortable, but I want to cut loose and join in. Is there enough going on to entertain folks who just want to watch?

(edited to add another question) Is there Adventurers Club merchandise? I think I might have to have some if there is.

Many thanks for any answers anyone might have! And I hope I don't scare anyone away by being too geeky ;)

it's been a very long time since I've been, and if I remember right there are certain places in the club that you can take pictures, and some that you can't; I remember one part that i won't mention that was an effect, and i really don't think you were allowed to take pics of that. As for LARPing there (*coughs* no, I'm not a geek, really) you might just want to call ahead, just in case they have a restriction in the AC against being in a costume that might be mistaken for a cast member.

Thank you so much for your input! Sounds like the best thing is to leave the cameras (and costumes) at home--for the best, I'm sure, as I am not terribly photogenic. Might scare my friends! :teeth:

May I ask, BlindTyldak, are you a fellow Elfquest fan?

*laughs* Shade and sweet water, friend. Though I have to admit it's been several years since I've read it last . . . kind of hard to keep up with comics in the middle of nowhere. :)

I have never had a problem taking pics there, in facts I often see people snapping away. I highly suggest taking one actually for you never know when you or a member of your party might end up on stage!

Yup, photos are totally allowed! I started a thread for AC pictures a few days ago, but not many people have posted yet.

Yay for RP people! ;) I've never seen anyone go in costume, but I bet it would get you a lot of attention from the cast! (I'd call to double check that it's allowed, too, though). Have a great time!

Definitely go and take your camera!!! I got some great shots a few years ago. AC is a blast!!! I enjoyed the entire experience and the club itself is great fun to explore in. They have a drink called the Kungaloosh that I wanted to get but it was a tad expensive!!

It sounds like you and your party will totally revel in the antics going on. Plus what with all the changes going on at Pleasure Island - I'd go to Adventure's Club while you can. You never know what might happen. I've heard AC is a fun place but it doesn't get a huge drinking crowd. I do know that they have alot of private affairs there so I'm hoping this keeps the AC there for a long time.

Enjoy and show us some your pictures when you get back!! :sunny: Ely

What's in a Kungaloosh? Why is it so expensive?
Hmmm, I might just have to go and do my own research! :sunny:

I was there a couple of years back when a couple came dresses as to of the cast members. The cast members loved it but management made them remove their costumes. Oh, and this was at Halloween. I'm not sure how a costume would fly any other night. I'm sure the cast will love it and you will defiantly become part of the activities but if management feels you are encroaching to far they may ask you to remove it. Let us know if you go through with it and what happens. :thumbsup2

There is a fine line between a "costume" and an "eccentric outfit". You probably could get away with dressing creatively enough to get chosen for some of the action. :thumbsup2

also,, bring your autograph book!
I got some great ones from the members!

( we always take video & still pictures, especially since the CM's switch roles so often..)

Many thanks to all of you for the great advice! I will just have to bring the camera after all.

Great thoughts on the dress issue. Actually, Eljay, now that you mention it, I was really thinking more 'slightly eccentric outfit' instead of 'costume'. I agree that you're all right about the possibility of stepping over the line otherwise. I will be circumspect and respectful!

And I must try this Kungaloosh that you speak of.

Do they sell AC merchandise (T-shirts, etc.)? I'd like to bring some home if they do, as gifts for my RP buddies (and some for me too of course!)

Again, thanks to everyone for the incredibly helpful and friendly replies. And to the other RPers, Elfquest fans, wanna-be Jedi, Ringers and geeks out there... :thumbsup2
