Questions about short layover in JFK, JetBlue

Looking at airfare for the first week of December. Jetblue has a flight that leaves Rochester at 6 am, lands at JFK at 7:20 am. The second leg leaves JFK at 8:04 am and arrives at MCO at 10:58 am. Jetblue is our fave airline and we'd prefer nonstop flights but they no longer do nonstops from our city. The times are favorable and the price right now is awesome at $121 pp/each way

I am worried about the short layover in JFK. Is it enough time to get to the next gate? Enough time for our luggage to get to the next plane? Does the fact that JB has it's gates all in the same corridor help with short layovers?

You'll be fine. JFK is dead at that time of morning, and you should have closer to a little over a hour because airlines pad their block times. Only thing to keep a eye on is weather and worst case scenario, Jetblue will simply put you on the next MCO flight.

Doublecheck when the runway work ends at JFK. I think it's early September, but I can tell you that last week on Thursday at 8:00 am having only one runway delayed arriving flights and many people were at the terminal 5 airside help desk trying to get on later flights to MCO and TPA as their inbound flights circled so long they missed short connections.

Weather can also cause delays in December, but that is less likely in early December than in January and February.

The one runway situation was forced due to high crosswinds. Thus the two 13/31 runways were forced to be closed. Barring extreme weather like above, JFK is a 3 runway operational airport always. Work is expected to be completed by December on the runway that is closed but should be finished sooner.

Jetblue is grouped together at JFK, you can easily walk to any gate in 10 minutes or less. I just did a connection from San Francisco to Raleigh going thru JFK, came in on one end of the concourse and left at the end of one of the others (Jet Blue is like a big Y at JFK). Gate to gate took me 8 minutes and I don't move fast at all. 8am arrival with a 8:45am departure.

Thank you all, I'm a little less worried now :) I would much rather fly jetblue than southwest and the price is really great right now.

Thanks again!!
