Questions About Rush Limbaugh

Double standard ladies and gentlemen. You have your beloved Keith, Rachel and Chris among many others. Do you agree with everything they say? Because if you do, I find you a bit of a bombastic lover.

No - I can honestly say - I don't agree 100% with any "liberal" commentator.

But then again - I don't watch\listen religiously to them. Only if I catch them on youtube - or if I'm interested in the subject matter of the day......

My favorite "liberal" side of the news is a blog - Talking Points Memo - Josh Marshall takes his reporting very seriously - while leaning left....

Here's an idea Faye...how about you get on the internet and try to listen to his show so you can form your OWN opinion about him. What a novel concept !
The refrain of "I've never even heard of him, but others tell me he is bad" says a lot the person saying it.

Good thing I didn't say that, then, isn't it? I said I had seen a clip last night that I found to be outrageous and I wanted to find out more about him. I formed an opinion (of my OWN, imagine that!) from the few clips I have seen of him over the years but I didn't know if he did strictly political commentary or if he was more like Howard Stern in that he had various guests and other interests. I didn't like what I saw yesterday, and the responses on this thread seem to indicate that his program is mostly political so I highly doubt if I am going to go to the effort of actually listening to any more of what he has to say.

She did-she finds him offensive. She was asking if anyone actually takes this joker seriously. Why should she subject herself to any more Rush than need be? I think she already formed her own opinion.

An entertainer exploits a stereotype for entertainment purposes?? SHOCK!! HORROR!! Don't watch Dave Chappelle. You might just go into political correctness convulsions.

The YOU is US. A thread about a guy who talks about politics and the fact you said the word conservative makes this thread political. I mean, how can their be a thread on this board with Rush Limbaugh in the title and not have it turn politcal?

I mentioned the other pundits merely to illustrate the point that their are offensive radio and tv personalities all over the place.

I'm a liberal. I listen to him. Mostly because I love talk radio. His program comes on mid-day. Some days I even find myself agreeing with, MOST days – not so much. Many of his opinions are so peripheral in thought its hard to imagine that this is a grown man. Everything he represents is a lie. Rush upholds "family values" in the face of "liberal" immorality. Rush has been married and divorced three times. So much for Mr. Sanctity-of-Marriage. He attacks drug users, drug dealers, and the "liberal" judges who do not sentence users and dealers to long prison terms. Rush was addicted to oxycontin and obtained them illegal. He was caught and stayed out of jail only because of his wealth and his lawyers. Anyone other than Rush would have gone to jail long ago. Rush wraps himself in the flag and turns loose his attack dogs on anyone who is not a "patriot" -- by his definition of patriotism. Rush has never served a day in uniform. In fact, when he became eligible for the draft during the Vietnam War, Rush was able to gain a draft deferment through his family doctor's certification. He is a joke, IMO, with a BIG audience.

I tried listening to Hannity on the radio the other day - but he was wailing how Obama is a socialist. I said - I'm out of here.

Then I turned on Randi Rhodes - who's been wailing about torture. So I tuned out there - I know torture is bad Randi - no need to have 5 hour debates on the topic (apparently a conservative 15 year old had just called in to say torture should be an acceptable tool for the US).

So I switched to the news........

YOU brought up Chappelle- who has no political value. So I made my post based on your comparisons. A comedian using shock for laughs is very different that a so-called political commentator using it for ratings.

You sound exactly like me. Opposite sides of the same coin so to speak! I don't listen to talk radio because I only listen to the radio when I drive and whether its Rush or someone on the left, its too distracting and irritating! I have read some of Josh Marshall's blog, he makes valid points. I'd much rather hear what somone like him has to say than someone who just has to use shock value to get his/her point across.

I used the word "conservative" in response to the very first person who posted, Zippa D Doodah, who told me Rush was a "conservative spokesman". This isn't an US vs Them discussion.

Exactly.

When I was a liberal he made me crazy. When I became a conservative he made me crazy. Because his double standard and hypocricy makes it hard for me to agree with him even when he is agreeing with me! I mean I sat there and made fun of him last night on Hannity and my husband commented that I haven't really changed that much. I still rant at the guy even if I am a Republican now. I find him offensive now as I did years ago.

It depends on the blog and the person writing it - in my experience.

Josh Marshall is a respected news and opinion commentator - he's got credentials - and he sources every thing.
