Hi I am planning a Disney World trip for 2020 and I was wondering how the renting of dvc points works in correlation to booking a package. I have used vacation packages the last two trips and I am looking for something different. I am wondering if he same perks like extra magic hours and free magic bands apply when you use dvc points along with buying a dining package and the memory maker package. Thanks for all your help.

DVC points function as a room only reservation, although you can add the Disney Dining Plan.

You would get Magic Bands and you would be eligible for extra magic hours. You would need to buy tickets separately, either from Disney or a reseller.

Yes to all the above.

You can purchase the dining plan (well you have the owner purchase it). You are provided Magicbands and have access to EMH’s.

One thing to be very aware of is that DVC cancellation policies are very different. Its best to plan on the reservation being non-refundable for any reason.

The other thing to be aware of is that DVC resorts will book fairly quickly compared to CRO reservations. You have plenty of time, but resorts start booking eleven months out - and at certain times of year for certain resorts, will book fairly quickly. Don't plan on getting a high demand resort last minute.

And high demand Dvc times do not always align with high demand Disney times.

Mid to late September through marathon week in January can be very difficult to book.

Especially studio rooms.

Another thing to add is that when you rent points most owners requires full payment once the reservation has been put in your name. Some(few) do accept that you pay 30% as a deposit and then the balance around 90 days before checkin.

FYI - You are also eligible for Disney's Magical Express to and from the airport, if you need it.

Happy planning!

You get all the perks that anyone booking a Disney resort gets, free parking at the theme parks, getting packages sent back to the resort, EMH, DME, etc.

Just be aware that you will not get the trip welcome packet in the mail, with general info and such, like you do with a Disney cash reservation. Your reservation, once you get the reservation number, can be linked into MDE like any other Disney reservation.

I’m not even sure most reservations are getting that anyway now.
