Questions about parade taping????

I posted this on the theme parks forum, but i wanted to ask my Disney mentors here on the family board as well. We are arriving by car on Dec 1 (the apparent date for the Christmas parade taping). We won't arrive at MK until around 3 or 4pm. Will the taping be over by that point (crossing my fingers....please say yes). We would like to avoid as much of the mayhem as possible. Also, we have MK on our itinerary on Sunday Dec 2 with ADR'S in the park. How crazy is it that day. We know that the CM's will reroute you if you wish to skip the taping, but how difficult will it be to get in the park. We are staying on property. Sorry this is a little long, but I just wanted to make sure anyone who could answer this had all the facts. Thanks in advance!!

Glad you asked! (though I have no answer for you ) I was wondering the same thing. We're staying clear of MK on the 1st but do plan on spending the morning and afternoon there on Dec. 2. I understand the taping is on both the 1st AND 2nd. Even though we have no interest in watching the parade, it is our last stop before we leave Disney. Wanted one last ride of all our favorites at the Magic Kingdom!

For the most part the taping should be over. The crowds may still be there though. You will have the people who have just hung around all day and are now ready to ride the rides and the ones who say I am outta here! (I was latter last year LOL).

I would really avoid the MK that day and head to another park to take advantage of the low amounts of people (because everyone will be at MK)
The taping should be over about then, but most people will move on to rides after the taping. (I was there once and vowed never to do it again) Yes some people do leave, but not enough to make the line waits any smaller.

We were there the week-end of tapeing a few years ago and avoided Mk on that Saturday when they were doing most of the tapeing. they however ended up doing some on Sunday due to weather /plane delays. the thingwas no one knew that and the park was very empty. We found this alwsome Cm that found us a quite out of the way place to sit and watch and it was so great. It was not the parade but the stars that MC the parade doing thier part. SO..not much help on parade day but the sunday after should be fine.
