Howdy,

My DH,Ds(3mths old),my folks, and myself are headed to HH this coming weekend for Fri and Sat night. We have never been there, so we are looking for some restaurant suggestions. I'm curious as to the location of the Old Oyster Factory.
We are staying in a 2 bedroom villa, and have requested a pack n play for the little one. Does anyone know if this pack n play is one of the ones that have a bassinet?
Do we need to bring anything for the Villa? Detergent? If we did laundry it would only be 1 load of my son's clothes. We will probably eat brkfst in the room.
Also how is the gift shop there? I was wondering if any pin trading goes on there? Do they have a decent amount of pins for sale?
My son and I will not be doing any swimming. :( Are there other activities around there? I heard that miniature golf is nearby....if so then is it hard to get there from the resort. We are not familiar with the area..

Thanks for all the help!

We enjoyed the Old Oyster Factory. It's located across the creek from the Disney resort. It was crowded the night we went but they had a couple singing out on the deck, which helped pass the time.

The pack and play in our unit was really dirty -- filled with sand and who knows what else. When we called the desk, they sent a smaller version of a full size crib. This worked much better for our son. The pack and play that we originally had did not have the bassinet insert.

We went miniature golfing one morning. It's right next to the Hilton Head Diner. Seems to me that it would be tough to take the little one there in a stroller because of the layout of the course. Probably his car seat would work better if it doubles as an infant carrier.

We did not need any extra items, besides laundry detergent. We always tracked alot of sand back with us from the beach.

Enjoy your trip!

I can help with a couple of your questions. The pack and play we had in our room didn't have the snap in bassinet---I used ours at home for the first 4 months, so I know what you mean!!

I don't think you need to bring anything. Regarding laundry--here's my .02: they give you a one load sample box of Tide. I like to not have to do any laundry when we first get back home, so I buy a box of the laundry tablets---I use Surf, but I think everyone makes them. Just put one or two of the tablets in your luggage---takes up little space, and that way if you wind up having to do "emergency" laundry at 3 am (I vaguely remember doing lots of that at the 3 month stage---major blowout in the diaper, etc), you are prepared.

The gift shop is extremely small. Not sure about pin trading, but I would tend to think it's very limited.

The baby will be sleeping a lot, so I'd just put him in the stroller and head for the pool. You could take turns swimming and watching him. The pool slide is sooo cool. There are lots of resort activities for kids and grownups, so again, while he's sleeping you may want to check these out. They usually last 1-2 hours and are often free. We went on the Pinckney Island wildlife refuge hike-----I wouldn't recommend that. It's 2 1/2 hours and part of it is not accessible by stroller. I think it's one of those things that sounds fun, but IMHO, it wouldn't be with a baby. I just love walking around the island, and the resort itself to look at all the landscaping and natural trees/plants. You could also shop at the outlets which are near the bridge to the island itself.

I know HH is close to selling out, so I'm not sure if they give tours there still, or if would be more of a meeting with a guide to discuss other DVC resorts, like VWL.

No guides are on-site anymore - they'll tell you to pick up a direct-line phone to guides located in Orlando.

I don't know about tours - I think there are still resort tours, but not the typical DVC sales push tours. And yeah, it's real close to being sold out. If you don't care about use year, there's still some available, but some use years are extremely limited.

Enjoy - we were there 2 weeks ago and had a blast!
