For those of you who collect them...
what is the 'average' cost per pin .
How about "Limited Edition' Pins?

Thanks,
CB

The average, if I'm not mistaken is $8.50 and I bought 1 limited edition Snow White that was $10.50

WOW....
are the ones I'm seeing advertised on EBAY the same sort as are sold in WDW...Looks like the prices are from $2.00-10.00 for the most part. Not sure yet if I want or need to start a collection...just was in a rare shopping mood (must be that #$%#**%&&^@#^$^&^$ ROFR getting me down!

Thanks Athenna,

Thanks Athenna,

Yup, the same sort. All of the pins on e-bay (at least the one's I've seen) can be found at WDW, also, unless they were special edition, or a few years old.

Hey, Athenna, pins just went up 45 cents so that 8.50 pin is now 8.95. And there are those of us still silly enough to buy them.

Oh, you're right Figment! I forgot about that! Sorry!
Ugh! This why I only buy a few that I am dying to have. I don't trade.

Well, I went a little nutszoid and bought some really cool pins!
My fav was a Liberty Bell "Let Freedom Ring" that was given out to cast members just after 9/11.

I also bought two WInnie the Poo as Santa Claus from Yugoslavia and Great Britain...dad born in Y mom in GB.

I bought some LE ones too...not sure exactly what.
Most expensive one was WDW castle with the gate slides up and Aurora and Philip are behnind it and a cave gate slides up with a dragon!

I think I better stop, but there are a few more....just a few more!!!! Somebody rip the computer cable out PLeasesa :rotfl:
God, I sound like I'm buying POINTS!!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have gotten a couple DVC, and Snow White, but that is really all.

I hereby STOP for today...

but I got somemore!!!
Figment on 4th of july
The Evil Queen looking in the mirror
Mickey Painting a picture of Walt
and my most fav: Walt and Mickey in front of the Castle

Don't know average cost cause of shipping but guessing @ $6

But of course I don't want to trade any of these....so how does THAT go. If you see a CM with a pin you like....do you offer one of yours?
Can one become an ebayholic?
CB

Ooh the Evil queen one sounds cool!

The shipping varies but I don't think I've seen it more than $5.
I've never offered any of mine to a CM or anyone.
Yes, you can become an e-bay aholic!

Colorado - if you see a CM with a black lanyard (green ones are only for kids), you can trade one of your pins for one of theirs. However if they already have the pin you want to give them on their lanyard, you need to trade a different pin. If their pin has a rubber back and your pin has a metal back, you keep your metal back and just hand over the pin (and they will do the same). If the pins both have rubber backs, you put the back back on the pin and hand it over.

Check odpt.com for all the rules. This hobby can be very addicting. I suggest you find one or two characters or kind of pins (Holiday, ride, etc.) and stick with those. When the pin craze first started, we all wanted (and needed) all the pins that came out. I can't tell you how many thousands of dollars we all spent. Most of us have cut back. I still collect Halloween pins and some Christmas but for the most part I'm sticking with Elliot (Pete's Dragon), Figment and Brother Bear.

Good luck and have fun!

Cyn

Thanks Cyn, for all the information...that was thoughful of you.

Yep, I can see how it can become addicting. I bought 11 pins today..they all held some memory connection for me (or I bought it for a fam member).
The shipping can kill ya...but the pins were all pretty reasonable. I'm trying for mostly LE pins or at least unusual ones to keep, but I need to get a bunch for trading purposes if I decide to do that..might be a fun way to meet people if I go solo.

THanks again!

We started collecting by buying a huge cheap lot off ebay for the kids to use as traders on a trip a few years ago. It was a great idea! Course, most of the pins they traded for were princesses. princess:

I now collect pins for all the resorts we stay at, DVC pins and any special events we attend. I'm hoping they'll have a spring break pin this year. We also like attraction and restaurant pins.

Last trip we bought a cool pin shadow box at DTD for our resort pins. It looks great!

Anyone know when the next DVC pin this year will be out and what it is? I got the starter Chip and Dale and AK Stitch. Wow, I hope they all don't have Stitch on them!

A few weeks ago I posted that my daughter lost her DVC tinkerbell pin. I cannot believe that someone who I had never met or spoken to before sent us not only the pin but several other beautiful DVC resort pins and special limited edition pins together with two wonderful DVC lanyards for nothing. This extremely lovely lady also posted them from the US to the UK to us and she did all of this for free.

I cannot explain how happy this complete stranger made me not only because of the pins but I now have a new friend to chat to and it is all thanks to these boards. :cloud9:

I will never forget this act of kindness and we look at our pins everyday. They truly have a very special meaning and we would never trade them.

I was wondering what happens when you have so many pins that you can't wear them? Do people go on the rides with all the pins round their necks?

Many thanks

Susan

When we went on our first trip home my kids, big kids mind you ;) , DS's 15 and 12 began collecting pins with passion and bought lanyards and definitely wore them on all the rides. They needed them with them to trade with CM's :teeth: DS15 collected all villains and DS12 collected mostly animal characters! Of course, their mom was the one who started it and I wore mine on a lanyard a couple of days but felt a little weird with all those pins hanging from me :earseek:

Collecting pins is great fun and mine all live on a corkboard now to enjoy!

we had previously bought only a few pins. just bought the ones that really stood out and of our favorite characters. on our recent trip i decided to buy ones from all of the places and rides we visited. i bought a poster sized corkboard and used the pins to hang our favorite pictures of our vacation. so no trading for us just memories

Susan...
that was a lovely lady who came to the rescue..Thanks for posting that here!
(Made me cry, but then I even cry at some McDonald's commercials

I would love a type of shadow box for my new keeper pins! . Or the cork board Idea woud also work....Has anyone found a frame that they could fit behind?

I ended up with 11 to trade (though I will have to keep the Eeyore!!!) from a 'bulk' buy, and then 11 with special meaning for me, that I won't trade.
OOOH...I got a bootleg (I think) LE 300 of tink in the bathtub...her dress is hanging over the edge of the tub and tink has lots more in the ****y department than Juila Roberts (at least before twins)...The seller had to list this tink pin on the ADULT EBAY SITE (who knew?), because EBAY decided it was a NUDE FAIRY :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I then found an AWESOME site (www.pinpics.comwith history and photos and desireability/cost of all the pins (almost) including bootlegs and ...even funnier ERROR pins:sometimes pins actually were sold at Disney with misspellings like: Dieneyland or Eeyor ...When Dis saw the error , they pulled them, but the few sold actually have become collector's items. I think it would be fun to collect those!

Shan, I too would like to get DVC pins...there are some on Ebay, I missed a collection of 15 pins from the different Disney resorts for @ $55.00...I ran out of time in bidding with 'outbid notices'. I also think having all the resorts would be a good collection.

So...I think I have two more that I am bidding on and then I am quitting for awhile!!! THis can get to be an expensive habit!!!!!

But since I am WAITING WAITING WAITING for ROFR, I have a great excuse
and a dirty house.
Oh well,
CB over and out

Here's another expensive habit for ya CB - have you seen the Disney Collection Italian charms? Oh my, that gets expensive!

Oh Shan! I'm afraid to even ASK!!!! Still buying pins today , darnit....some of the sellers let you 'combine' shipping' if you buy more than 1...so I am officially hooked. But so far found several on the 'hard to find' trader wanted on the pinpics list!
CB

Get hooked like me -

There are two different kinds, the expensive ones that are collection and then the cheaper ones that are add a link. You have to be careful on ebay with the difference. I got one cheaper one by mistake and the charm fell off last week. The collection charms look great.
