I am a newbie not only to the world of renting DVC points but also to the world of discussion forums so bare with me.

1. Is it better to post a reservation wanted or to respond to the points for rent? It seems like the points for rent get tons of replies before I can even respond. Should I still respond? We are looking for an October res for 282 pts BWV or BCV.

2. I posted a reservation wanted posting Sunday morning. By the time it posted on Monday afternoon it was already on page 2 and is not being viewed. Should I post a new posting or is there something I can do to move it up to get it seen  ?

3. How do you "Bump" your posting to keep it active (I feel so dumb for having to ask this one) :confused3 ?

4. My DH wants to fly out midweek (Tuesday or Wednesday) to take advantage of the lower airfare and stay for a week leaving (Tuesday or Wednesday) is that an issue with a DVC rental that we are not staying for a formal Sunday through Saturday stay.

HELP!! MY DH is putting a lot of pressure on me to get this process started. He's starting to ask if it is worth the trouble. I need to start seeing some progress or we are going to end up paying full price. We promised our five and eight year old daughters we would go this year and I don't want to stay in a Disney Value Resort. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Welcome the the world of renting DVC!

1. Use both.

2/3. "Bump" your thread. Go to your post, hit "Reply", and just type in Bump, or anything else witty ;), just to move your thread back to the top.

4. No problem. DVC is not a traditional timeshare and does not deal in full, set weeks. You can get as many or as few nights as you like, with arrival or departure on any day of the week you like.

If your October dates fall during the food and wine festival, find an owner who has BWV or BCV points and secure your reservations prior to April, just to be safe. That is a popular time at the Epcot resorts and once the 7 month window opens up a lot of non-BWV and non-BCV owners will be looking to get reservations there.

To answer your question about mid week reservations DVC is not typical in so far as a Sat/Sat reservation at a timeshar resort. You can begin and end your stay on any day of the week. Actually, points for weekend nights are much higher than week nights (Sun thru Thurs nights). Also, if you're looking for an October reservation at either BWV or BCV now you really need to rent your points from someone who owns 282 points at either place. At least until March, which is when the seven month window opens and someone with points from another resort can then make ressies at their non home resorts. Both resorts are very difficult to book at the seven month window because of the F & W at Epcot during that timeframe. So, your best bet would be to post again looking specifically for someone with points from either of those resorts. You're about nine months out at this point so you may be able to get something, but, I wouldn't count on it if you need to wait until the seven month window.

Thanks to both of you for your replies. It had been very helpful. I already knew that I was going to have to get a member of the home resort that I wanted to get my reservation for since I am more than seven months out. I even referred to it in my posting. I'm getting pretty good at this. I just hope it does not end up being for nothing. Wish me good luck and I'll let you know the outcome.:goodvibes
