We have booked a few resturaunt choices that are usually mixed in the reviews.

Let us know what you think of them , and If we should find another choice (IYO)

1. SAN ANGEL : love this place for the atmosphere, so we have always wanted to eat there...but reviews are less than gracious....
2. RAIN FOREST CAFE: Similar situation, need a nighttime meal at AK.....not many options...
3. PLAZA: just don't know...

THANKS FOR THE INPUT AND OPTIONS!

Rainforest Cafe is fine, standard casual dining chain, but the theme inside is nice. My daughter loved it when younger. We never ate at teh ones in Orlando, but the one in San Antonio was always a must on our trips.

I really like RF in Disney Springs. Never had a bad meal or poor service there. Eaten there quite a few times.

Love The Plaza! Great location and nice food.

Haven't eaten at 1.

I think Rainforest Cafe is a solid choice. We've eaten breakfast at the AK one and have liked it and we have eaten lunch at the one in DS and it was good as well so I don't feel its a bad choice. My kids love the theming there..the only thing thats not so cool about the rainforest cafe at AK is its located at the entrance to the park. Which is ok if you book an early breakfast there (which is what we did before and eat before going into the park) or maybe book dinner there and eat before you leave. But it can be a real pain to have to pretty much walk all the way out of the park and then walk back into the park. We are planning lunch there on our AK day next year but we are planning a mid day break so we are going to eat at Rainforest Cafe and then head out afterwards when we are done lunch.

The plaza I would say is also another solid choice...I mean its not the best place in Magic Kingdom but its also not the worst and Magic Kingdom also has limited TS places to eat. We have eaten at the Plaza several times and we have never had a "bad" meal there...we have had some bad service though and also there are no restrooms inside the restaurant...you have to walk to the tomorrowland terrace restrooms right next door (which are not too far away) but if you have little kids they are far enough away, lol. Just make sure everyone uses the bathroom before you go so you don't have to get up in the middle of your meal.

I have never eaten at San Angel but I have heard good things about it and my family wanted me to book there but I am just not a mexican fan so in the end my vote wins, LOL...I will say this though the scenery in the Mexican Pavilion where San Angel is, is absolutely stunning!

We enjoyed Rainforest Cafe at AK! :) good food and like a PP mentioned, cute theming inside!

Don't listen to the Podcast about San Angel! I did and was terrified...it was a lovely lunch. Everything tasted good. I got shrimp cocktail and tostadas de tinga, DH and DS both got steak tacos, the 3 year olds had chicken fingers and rice. Churros for dessert were tasty. Ice cream was just a scoop of Edy's but was fine.

Haven't been to RFC in AK in years, have been to two in California, and one in Disney Springs...it's is always tasty enough...it's like Applebee's or something. I personally prefer Yak n Yeti, but RFC is fine and cute to see the animals for kids.

Honestly, most of the places we have eaten at Disney are basically Applebee's/Olive Garden/Chili's quality with a more expensive price tag and more limited menu. Go in knowing that and be surprised if something is better.

Everyone else has commented on RFC and the Plaza, so let me tell you about our great experience with San Angel...
We had one of our best meals of our trip at SA! The food was excellent and our server was superb!
So, enjoy!

I love San Angel Inn & we eat here on every trip. It is such a pretty restaurant & the food is good.
We live in Texas & are huge Mexican food fans. San Angel Inn's food is different but delicious. The chips & salsa is good too.

RFC . The atmosphere is awesome & we've eaten at them several times for that. The entrees are huge also. We do like other places better but it is a fun place to eat.

We have never eaten at the Plaza. The menu & restaurant doesn't appeal to us so I can't help you on that one.

We have RFC in our area and wouldn't pick it on any particular merit, but the food is fine and the theming is very on point for Disney. If loud noises bother a member of your group, avoid. The regular thunderclaps can be pretty intrusive. For AK TS we really enjoyed Yak&Yeti. It's the same company so a Landry's card could benefit you if you time a "birthday" with activation-at either.

I haven't eaten at SA, but have noted that it is more traditional Mexican food vs. Tex-Mex. I'd go there, for an immersive meal, over your other two.

Plaza is basically a sandwich shop that has tasty shakes, too. Budget friendly and cute on Main St.

We like all of them!
Plaza has a good straightforward menu that is well priced, also the location is easy to get to from anywhere in MK as it is central.

Rainforest cafe has a large menu with good variety, never had a bad meal here, and the theming is great, only con I have is that it is in the back of Disney Springs, however the crowds over there are usually thinner.

San Angel Inn is traditional Mexican food, and is my DS' favourite restaurant. The food leans to "healthy" Mexican, not just tacos and burritos, everyone in our party usually finds something they like.

We thought San Angel Inn was alright, but wouldn't go running back. Food was generally ok but, seating where we were, along the wall closest to the shops was extremely tight, practically on top of the 2 4 tops that flanked our table. I'm not a person that willingly dines at communal seating restaurant so this might be more of an issue for you than me. Service was ok but nothing special. My only other complaint is how blinded you get walking out from inside the Mexico Pavillion having been in the dark that long. We went for an earlier dinner time so the sun was still very much out when we left. I would try the Hacienda San Angel but probably not the San Angel Inn again

Haven't been to either of the others.

Do you have a Rainforest Cafe near you? If so, I would drop this reservation. Why go somewhere on vacation that you can visit at home? At least that is how I look at it.
Tusker House and Yak n Yeti are two other solid choices at AK, if you decide to switch.

We let reviews sway us for several trips away from San Angel Inn but 3 trips back I decided to go ahead and try it, we loved it!
I regret not trying it sooner, my family has now requested SAI every trip since. We are going again in Sept. and the 1st ADR I got was for SAI.
It is not the typical Tex-mex food and that is what I think most people are not expecting and are negative about, I usually order seafood dishes there and they have always been very good.
The Atmosphere is Romantic and Unique, I hope you try it!

no offense but the contents of this post was kind of a let-down after the spicy title, lol.

San Angel Inn apparently started being managed by the same group that does La Hacienda when that restaurant opened and from what I can tell has gotten much better reviews since then.

that said, I picked La Hacienda due to sharing some above poster's feelings about not wanting to be on top of my neighbors. Also eating in the dark alone with my 8 year old does not sound like fun... it sounds like a recipe for boredom and inappropriate voice levels in an otherwise quiet restaurant.

I would personally look for another option... if I HAD TO pick one of these, I'd go with San Angel...

1. SAN ANGEL: Ate here once years ago; liked the atmosphere but the food was just ok at best
2. RAIN FOREST CAFE: WE HATE THIS PLACE! Sorry! :( This place seems to have the SLOWEST service ever, and the food is mediocre at best.
3. PLAZA: Ate here once and it was ok, but there are much better options so we don't intend to return.
