Did anyone bring a hairdryer? Someone said the dryers aren't good but she couldn't plug hers in.

Thanks!

Mrs. Auercat

Going on our first DCL May 7!

Opinion varies on how good the hairdryers are. My wife brought hers & had to plug it in at the desk, would not work in the bathroom. The outlets in the bathroom are for shavers only, so it would not work with a hairdryer.

I can't stand the hair dryers in the bathrooms. They're pretty wimpy. I bring my own. The only outlet is by the desk. However, it's placed flush with the desk and most hair dryers have big block plugs that won't fit. As a result, either bring a short extension cord or buy a rotating or angled plug adapter.

I used the hair dryer to dry my swim shoes and it got very hot. I had to hold one end of the dryer with a towel the longer it stays on the hotter it gets. My wife didn't like :confused3

I brought my own and dh was very impressed when I pulled out the extension cord. :flower:

I always bring my own hair dryer. I usually pull the plug on the TV, it seems to be by a mirror most often.

(although on our last cruise in October, didn't have to worry...The Roy Disney suite has multiple outlets in the bathroom :goodvibes )

I know a lot of people complain about the hair dryers, but a good dryer is critical to me since I only use that and a round brush to style my hair, I haven't used a curling iron or hot rollers for years. I found the dryer to be perfectly fine, and I have thick hair. It does get hot fast, so I had to work fast.

It may vary from cabin to cabin. Ours was a 1500 watt unit that nearly burned my daughter's scalp. And she has very long, very very very thick hair.
Her home hair dryer is only 1200 watts.

I took my own on our last cruise and at first I didn't think it was going to fit in the outlet because of the plug on the hair dryer. Mine has the rectangular shaped plug on it, so it's bigger than most dryers or curling iron plugs. It did end up fitting, but I could only plug in one thing at a time, so I would highly recommend taking either and extension cord or a power strip.

On our first cruise, I had long hair that could be worn curly, or I could blow it out straight. I didn't bring my own hairdryer and relied on the one in the room ... needless to say, my hair was not straight all week. This last time, I did bring my own hairdryer and a power strip to plug it in. I didn't have a problem doing my hair out in the main cabin ... that actually freed up bathroom space for the men in my life to get showered, brush teeth, etc.

Did a cruise in Sept. and used on board hairdryer.....took forever. Plan on packing my own this time. :bounce: :Pinkbounc
