I'm new to the Southwest RR program and for the first time have enough points for a free flight. My question is how soon should I book? My trip is several months away and right now only my outgoing flighy can be booked. Should I wait to book both going and return together?

The earlier you book the less you'll pay. Be aware of the rules regarding changing your flight and finding that you might have to pay more as the new date and or time may be more expensive depending on the costs tiers and available rates thus possibly having to book at a higher rate if the less expensive ones have alreagy beem gobbled up by others. Not an easy question based on the possibility of you having to change plans for something unforeseen today.

Good Luck

I'd book as soon as you can. You can always cancel and rebook if the fare goes lower and the points will just be returned back to your account with no restrictions. But that way, you will know the "most" you will be spending. I would book each flight seperately.
