Question regarding DVC

I've been wondering something. Let's say you decided to buy into DVC. If I got a referral to get the $15 per point discount I was wondering if a guide had certain liberties to be able to give you incentives to sign up, ie: extra bonus points??

I hope this makes sense...I haven't had enough coffee yet :surfweb:

Just wondering :teeth:

No, there are no "negotiations" when buying through Disney. No negotiation on the price, the closing costs, or the incentives. They announce a price and incentive options and the same offer goes out to any prospective buyer. :)

BUT!!!!! At one point people buying DVC at DL were given 2 free APs for DL or WDW. I'd love to know if they still are---we are close to buying, and don't know which coast to purchase at! All things being equal, obviously this would be swing our decision.

DL purchasers were also being given $50 gift cards recently for taking the tour.

Hope somebody else confirms this information. Otherwise, YMMV!!! :rotfl:

Those were not negotiable perks though.

Agreed. They were offered to everyone buying during a specific time period. Same as Magical Beginnings, DVC bonus points, etc. So the incentives change but are offered to everyone equally.

Over the years, DVC has offered many incentives - these range from free admission passes thru 1999 for early buyers at OKW and VB (this was never offered to those buying after 1995), free APs, price discounts (like the $15 current incentive), developer points and a number of other permutations. However, in all cases, all buyers were able to get the same offer - no negotiations or other concessions have been made - only the published incentives. In some cases, there have been slightly different offers for existing members and in some cases, new buyers did actually need to be referred in order to qualify for an incentive (some of these were never even mentioned to prospective buyers and were available only if the buyer mentioned the incentive).

The current incentive which lowers the purchase price to $86 per point doesn't included any of the other past incentives - no free admission passes, no APs. You can always ask - and maybe they would allow you pay full price ($101) in order to get the AP, but they have not been combining past incentives with what is currently offered.

At one time (when we first looked) it was "buy now and this Disney stay is free." Basically they picked up your CRO rooms if you bought DVC (and payed full price) on the spot.

Actually they simply took the points out of the membership if I recall correctly, it wasn't really free. Many of the other promotions were better deals.

Seems like the first time I looked hard into DVC you got "credit" for your current stay toward the cost (Like a reduction of the down payment), but it may have been one of those times when they were "preselling" and didn't really have a resort to sell you LOL!

You got credit but they took the corresponding number of points was the only program I was aware of.

We got this for our stay at the Polynesian on our first trip in 1997 and we bought OKW. They used a percentage of our cost at the Polynesian based on the number of points we purchased. It brought the cost of our points down to something like $50 a point.
