Hello everyone!

My DF and I have spent some more time discussing our wedding (which we are hoping will be 2 years tomorrow) and were wondering how many people we can have before the minimum room nights we have to guarantee goes above 25 nights.

A few friends have been showing an interest lately, and we thought only family would want to come along... we'd love to have friends there too if we can but we dont want to go above the 25 room night minimum.

So if anyone could advise the max number of guests based on 25 room nights and out of interest what the next level of guaranteed minimums is (say 35 room nights?) and how many people you would need to be in that bracket, i would really appreciate it.

Hope that makes sense ;)

I believe more than 40 increases your room nights and I think they only go in blocks of 25, so if you have more than 40 ppl I think you're stuck guaranteeing 50 nights. HOWEVER, if you're really not sure when you sign your contract that you'll be over 40 (when we were doing ours we were planning on 35-40) they'll write your contract for 25. After that if you add a few guests your guarantee only goes up when you block additional rooms. ( you have to guarantee you'll bor 80% of the rooms you block, so if your guarantee is 25, you can block 30 no problem. If you go over that you increse your guarantee that way) Hope that helps.

also watch the number of nights you have in your room block, we have to guarentee 25 nights but when we picked our 3 resorts we picked 14 nights in each. most of us coming from the uk would want 14 night holidays.

So when we got our contract we had 5 rooms at each resort for 14 nights and had to guarentee 75 room nights

that's great thank you both for your help.

We currently only have 14 people going so we definitely will not be going over 40 people so we should be ok to still confirm 25 room nights.

My DF and I and his Sister and Brother in law are DVC owners so DF and I will be staying at SSR for 20 nights and his sister and hubby will be staying at SSR for 14 nights so we had the room nights covered but didnt want to increase it above something we couldnt do with our DVC membership as all other guests will be staying off disney.

Sarah - are you saying that no matter what i should only contract myself for 25 nights at SSR regardless of us knowing that combined we will be spending 34 nights, incase disney up our minimums if we declare 34?

I think they used to do it in 25 room blocks, but I don't think they do it thta way anymore. Now I think they just ask you to tell them how many rooms you think you need, and then you block 20% more than that. We had the same worry, that we were going to go over a certain number of guests and have to book 50 rooms. That didn't happen. We had 33 guests and I think we guaranteed 30 rooms (so our block was for 36 nights). HTH!

Yeah I only have to do the 25. If I want to block more room out I have to up the 25, but it didn't matter how many people I have coming.

all my bookings from virgin here in the uk are going towards my room night min, i think we have about 56 confirmed at the moment and only need to guarentee 25.

ok so i can ask to guarantee 25 nights with 2 rooms?

we cant do anymore rooms than that.

you tell them how many you want, you dont even have to say the resort you are staying in.

we have grand for 10 nights
ak lodge 10 nights
coronado 10 nights

we then have booked our holidays through virgin holidays and given disney the numbers and we still have all the rooms above to use but we have our guarentee already.

if none of the rooms have sold a month before the wedding they will be realesed back into disneys system for anyone to book.

So as you can see you can put any reosrts on the block and then just give your wedding planner your reservation numbers and that goes towaards your min nights.

Excellent, thanks Sarah :thumbsup2

sorry have another question.

I remember reading somewhere that you cannot confirm your date until you have given disney your res number... would they be happy with just my res number even though i cant fill up the room nights on my own? With DVC you have a use year when your points get renewed and my use year is different to my sister-in-law's and so she wont be able to make her reservation at the same time as me... will disney be happy to confirm the contract with just my reservation?

i'm a wishes wedding and we contracted without a reservation so not sure for escape
