Question on transfer or points / banking

Hi All,


Can someone please clear this up for me, I am a bit confused. If I need to rent points and have them transferred to me (I am a DVC member) to complete a vacation at the BCV's in 11/05 do I need to wait for points that have a UY in 05? Or can I transfer someone's points who has already banked them from 04 to 05 and then use those points? I hope I am not too confusing. Of course I am thinking it would be ideal to get BCV points so I could have the 11 month window advantage for part of the reservation.


Do any of my comments make sense or am I just plain crazy to be thinking about this next trip being that its 1 1/2 yrs away?

The other member can only transfer their current year points to you, they can't transfer points they have banked or borrowed. After you receive them, you can bank them.

First off if they have banked their points, they can not be transferred to you. You can not transfer banked or borrowed points. Now you could have someones 04 points transferred to you and you can bank them.

Not so. Points from the next use year can be transferred.

Transfers are incredibly confusing, aren't they?

I was told by MS points transfered can't be banked either. Can only be used in the original UY.

That is one of the big problems with transfers. It really seems that depending on whom you talk to at MS, you get different answers. I was told that transferred points can be banked. I believe I have seen this written somewhere as well.

As Birthday cat told you already it might depend on who you talk to, but I know for a fact I trasferred points to a friend and they banked them.

So basically I am best off waiting to rent and have points transferred into my account from the same use year that I wanna use them in to be on the safe side due to the conflicting reports.....does this makes sense?
