Im really happy with what I got going on for April I needed one more day at vgf 1 brdm to not have any gap days.

Been trying for a couple weeks now. I went to the cemetery for Dia de Los muertos today to visit my family and I asked for a little help A few minutes later, the day popped up and I grabbed it

I have been looking for January 1 studio and I can see so many studios come and go. I wonder if waitlist actually works.

It works but nobody knows exactly how. It is possible that it doesn’t grab immediately but rather scans every so often then picks up availability. In the slots you sometimes get lucky at see a room in between scans.

But then again I have released a room myself and tried to rebook 1 second later and it wasn’t available so yeah nobody knows for sure exactly what happens.

HOLY CRAP! IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!

BFF and I are planning our trip for next October. We have to put in for our vacation time on December 1 and we are trying to set some dates. My birthday is the Friday after Columbus Day and we typically like to arrive on a Tuesday or Wednesday since airfare is generally cheaper. Well....I put in the dates for "book a vacation" in a studio at AKV-Jambo, starting on October 14 and when I pulled up the (unavailable) Club Level studios....the 12th and 13th were AVAILABLE!!! Yes please!! So I guess we will be arriving on a Monday next year. I also immediately set up a waitlist for the 14th since we really want to stay three nights at AKV. After that, it will be a toss up. Either I will transfer in some more points and we will stay in a 1BR at Kidani, or we will continue with the club-level theme and stay at the Gran Destino Tower over at Coronado Springs. We have never stayed there before and we are interested in trying it out. Plus, that club level stay at AKV this year really spoiled us. Now we just need to decide if we want the club level or that extra bathroom. With potentially three women in one room, it truly is a tough decision.

What is going on!!???

I got the e-mail today that the waitlist for the 14th came through! So I looked at the website and saw that there was a CL studio available for the 11th so I grabbed it!! Now we have FOUR consecutive days booked on points! I only have 8 points left in my AKV contract so I have used up every point that I can without borrowing. We travel in October and with a February UY, I am terrified of having to cancel at the last minute and lose our points. It would be bad enough to lose the current points, but losing borrowed points would be too much to stomach.

Now we just need to figure out what we are going to do for the remainder of the trip. We were planning on only going for 6 days total, but now we may extend it to 7. Of course, now we need to acquire extra points and since we like to end the trip in a 1BR, this may get to be a little more expensive than we had originally planned. Fortunately, we have an entire year to work some overtime.

A casual comment from DH about going to Disney for Christmas got me playing. At first, I got 2 nights at BLT. I was looking for more nights and scored 5 nights at Polynesian!! (Holy cow it was a lot of points)

I also got Christmas dinner at the Cake Bake Shop, a Candlelight Processional dining package reservation, a Holiday Sleigh Ride and direct flights for the 2 of us for under $400!

I scored 1 of 2 nights I need in CA. Fingers crossed for the other but it’s a looong shot.

I how I’d like it to be easier to play the slots on your own phone especially in CA with its 2 booking categories. We need an app!

Well I guess I'm not that lucky... Spirit just canceled our flight 2 hours before we were supposed to depart. First and last time we have ever booked Spirit. Shelled out $500 to get in a Southwest flight that will hopefully get us there tomorrow at 11 am.

They'll never tell you why. Spirit is great when everything goes to plan but when things go sideways man is it bad. There's another game of slots for you - will your discount airline flight go well or not?

Many other owners have learned the same. There are multiple old threads about how to deal with family or friends who don’t understand how DVC works.

You did the right thing rebooking. We used to use a low cost airline to fly to Mexico called Volaris and they do the same thing, flight cancelations, delays, no reasons why, zero accountability, etc.

We learned our lesson and find it worth it to just fork over the extra cash to know that we will make it to our destination Southwest has been good to us so far.
