Question on resort surveys & postcards?

On our trip to WDW two years ago we stayed at POR (then Dixie Landings). When we returned home we received a survey to fill out concerning our stay and about 10 months later received a postcard inviting us back at a great rate.

We have been back from our latest trip for over 3 weeks now and still no survey (it was our first stay at the Polynesian and I really wanted to let them know what we thought). Does everyone get a survey or is it just random? Same question about the postcards - we are planning another trip next Nov. and would love to stay at the Polynesian again (I have spoiled my kids!) but would need a good rate to be able to afford this twice in one year.

Surveys are random. Filling out a survey doesn't necessarily mean one gets a postcard either. Many here have tried to figure out the how and why of who gets a postcard and who doesn't. It tends to be very random. Some get postcards addressed to their children!

We've stayed on property many times and have only gotten a survey once and a postcard twice. I think they just pick them randomly. :)

If you don't get a survey, what is the best way to let them know about something you felt was not up to the "normal" Disney standards? We had a wonderful trip and loved the Polynesian but I did expect a little more "service" for staying at one of their deluxe resorts.

While there I tried to extend our reservation one more night because of the weather situation up north. I was flatly told they were booked solid. There was no offer to help us find other accomodations or even a suggestion of how we could go about looking into other resort possibilities. I really just expected a little more "Disney" attitude when I expressed our concern about driving home through an ice storm and I thought they would be happy we wanted to stay and spend more money.

I've always heard that the best way to voice concerns or problems is to speak with the manager while you are actually there.... face to face.

But since you can't do that then I would recommend writing a letter to the hotel manager. Tikiman probably has the address, or you could call the Poly front desk and ask them.

We voiced many concerns on our survey but never heard anything back, so I don't think it's a good way to report problems. I think they just use them to compile data.

My mother-in-law had some problems at one of the resorts last year and they mailed her several one day park hoppers... so I guess it could pay off to complain.

It's funny, everytime we come back from Disney I always have a list of complaints in my mind, but we still keep going back anyway. ;)

Thanks for the input. Like I said, we enjoyed the Polynesian and this was a relatively minor issue. I am not looking for any "compensation" just the comfort of knowing that the next time I choose to stay at a Disney property that I will encounter a little more "Disney" spirit when faced with a problem. Quite honestly, I really would have expected help with this issue on any type of vacation not just at Disney.
