Question on Multiple Resale Contracts vs. Add-on

All,

I am hoping you can clarify somethign for me.

Let's say I purchase (via resale) a 50 point BWV contract with Sept UY. I then decide a year later that I need another 50 points. I understand I have two choices.

1) Purchase through Disney. I know this will get added to the same member ID and I will get the same use year. My main question here is if I need to sell, can I still sell two 50 point contracts or now is it one 100 point?

2) Add on via resale. From what I have read you can get your points combined into the same member ID. If I don't have them combined, I assume I would still be able to sell them individually. However, what happens if I need to book 11 nights in a studio at 9 points per night (99 total points). I assume I would only be allowed to reserve 5 per member ID since I wouldn't be able to "split" the 11th night between the two IDs???

Sorry if this is confusing, but I am trying to clarify this. I am going to be buying a resale eventually and trying to decide if I should just bite the bullet and go for a larger contract now.

Thanks for the help!!

The add on contracts that you buy can go under the same member # as long as they are the same UY and titled the same way, regardless of whether you buy from Disney or resale.

But all contracts retain their point value as a contract. So, if you have 2 50 point contracts, they will always be 50 point contracts and can be sold individually.

When your contracts are add ons (and not new masters under a separate member #), you can combine points from each contract for a single night stay without having to transfer. But it doesn't affect your ability to sell of some of your points in the future.

Note that if you ended up in this situation, you could use your once-a-year transfers to move 50 points from one contract into the other and book all 11 nights at once.

yep. DVC is the only entity that can turn 2 50 pt contract into 1 100 pt contract - and that is if they buy them back under ROFR...then they can resell them as a single 100 pt contract.

as long as both contracts are under the same member number, they are as easy to use as a single contract and give you more options if you need to sell or want to divide them among heirs...

Smaller contracts will always have a higher resale value. The demand for 50 point contracts is far greater than 160 point contracts because not many members want to add on 160 points.

Well we put an offer in on a 100 point BWV contract today. Hopefully it gets accepted!!!
