Question on Mission Space

Has anyone been on it yet. One of my family members dosen't like rough rides and get's motion sickness. Is it as rough as a roller coaster

It has been opened for testing for quite a while now.
My DS and I rode it four times the last week of June. This ride is unlike anything anyone has ever been on before. I do not like roller coasters myself (I only do RnR occassionally because my son loves it). This is a simulation where you blast off and travel to Mars. Not at all rough like Star Tours or Body Wars. Extremely realistic and really a wonderful attraction.
I didn't have any problems with motion sickness and if you follow the instructions you will probably be OK. I don't suggest anyone eat anything for a couple of hours or so before going on.
When we were there is was opened from around 4pm - 9pm. There is no guarantee that it will be operating on any given day since the "official" opening is not until August 15.

DH and DD rode it last week. DD said she felt dizzy, DH said he felt fine.

I'm perfectly fine on RnR, ToT and Star Tours. But Body Wars makes me queasy. Mission Space definitely made me quesy. Yes, it is smoother than Body Wars, but the space you're in is so much smaller, which for people like me adds to our motion sickness. In comparison, the capsule you're in is way smaller than say the ride vehicle for Back to the Future at Universal - only four people to a capsule and the control panel comes down right in front of you.

Ok, another question. Do you get that dropping feeling in the pit of your stomach? I can't do drops, spinning is ok. Bodywars dosen't bother me but Pirates (that little drop) bugs me. I can ride it but it bugs me. I would love to try this ride but am scared to death I'll get sick. Have never tried TOT or RNR. Did SpM when I was younger a couple of times.

I LOVE all roller coasters, but do not do well on simulator rides.
I have not been on MS yet, but plan to be totally prepped with Bonine everytime we visit Epcot just in case we ride! I used Bonine this last cruise and found it much more agreeable than Dramamine. I also have SeaBands, so I may put those on as a back up! Natt

If the little drop on Pirates bugs you, then you probably won't like the launch on Mission Space. You do get that feeling in your stomach a few times, mainly because of the G forces. But overall it is a very smooth ride.

The experience is very intense. It is not like a rollercoaster at all.
The closest thing to M:S is riding in an airplane (the landing feels like landing in a plane- the heavy sensation that you could fall right through the floor). During the launch You Will Feel 5 Times normal Gravity you will feel very heavy, pressed into the back of your seat. Your cheeks will be pushed back.
The sensation is very real, and if you get motion sickness easily it may be in your best interest to opt out.

Someone posted that they just got back from WDW and Mission Space wasn't open any more in the afternoons. Is this true????

That's what I heard as well zcomic. The attraction is supposed to remain closed until the official preview opening date of 8/15 so as to smooth the capacity transition from 50% to 100%. If you get to ride MS from now until then, consider yourself extremely lucky.
