Hypothetical here…

Say your home resort is BWV. You go online when your 11 month window opens up and book BWV to secure a room for yourself, because your travel dates are non-negotiable. When the 7 month window comes around, you check availability and find that BCV has availability for your dates as well as the room type you want. Can you switch your reservation from BWV to BCV with no issue in that case? Or are your points set in stone once you make that original reservation? Does use year and the “bank by” date come into play at all in this situation?

Thanks for the help!

You can cancel BWV and book BCV. Points go back into your account and you take them out for BCV. Only issue is if the points were banked or borrowed and you are using less for BCV. The left over points would expire at the end or your UY if not used.

You can cancel any reservation up to 31 days before arrival without penalty.

The thing to keep in mind is that while you cancel the first reservation someone could be grabbing that 2nd reservation you wanted, so you would lose the second ressie. You might not be able to get the first reservation back if someone grabbed that one after you cancelled it.

If you want to be able to just "switch" to a new resort without the chance of losing either reservation, you need to call member services.

Calling doesn't help. Member services has to do the same exact thing you do, but they seem to act with less urgency. I'd say you're more likely to lose the reservation if you call. And, if you're careful and prepared, you can actually hold the new reservation while you cancel the old one.

What is this sorcery that you speak of ?!?
