Question on borrowed points

Just a quick question before making a booking, if I borrowed points from next year and the reservation failed because of no rooms available, do the points go back for next year use? thanks for helping

If you are booking a DVC resort they won't book it if there is no availability. You don't borrow points until they check availability.

If you borrow points, and then cancel that reservation no longer needing the borrowed points, they will not be returned to the UY they were borrowed from. They will expire at the end of the UY they were borrowed into.

OK, so If the DVC resort is not available then the points are unchanged, but if available then I cancel, then the points will be this year points. Thanks
