We will be travelling on Nov 13-24. We were origonally going to drive from michigan but now I have to be back on the 25 for an emt class. We usually buy our tickets well in advance when flying but I just found out about the class. Right now I can fly our family round trip from DTW for $695 +$120 for our luggage. We scored the sweet deal with the 15 passenger van from Alamo for 162. The ticket break down before taxes is $54 on way per person. This seems to be a very good deal. I was wondering if prices are at their lowest, or if they will go down some more??? any advice would be great. The flight times are also very good. Leave Detroit around 12:00 noon nonstop, and leave Orlando 3:45 nonstop. This would be for a family of 5. I have alot of options for leaving DTW in the morning. WE could do park sleep fly and leave at 8:30 in the morning for about the same cost as driving to DTW and leaving at noon. I am so frustrated right now on what to do. Thanks for any comments, hint or suggestions that would help in our situation.

On Southwest for your dates, they are $64 flights available with no luggage fees. Total w/ taxes, etc is $654.

I see some $54 flights to Orlando on the 12th and more options coming home on the 23rd. Don't know how flexible your plans can be.

Sorry I accidently put in for a family of 4 not 5. Total is $807.
Still good rates considering not driving for 2 or so days.

I'm a big SW fan! They won't change your flight, 2 free bags per person.

Good luck!

Are you flying AirTran? Here is a link for a $25 coupon code.

You can send it to as many e-mail addresses as you need to in order to book your flights as one-ways, instead of round-trips. That would save you another $200. I just did this for my flight from Orlando to Detroit in October. My total cost came to $69.20! And, if you go to kayak.com first and follow it to the AirTran site to book, you will get your seat assignments for free. The lowest flights I've ever seen from DTW to MCO were $54. I see that your dates are now up to $64. I would take them now. They might go back down, but not by much. You stand a greater risk of them going WAY up on you.

Also, if you decide to spend the night before your flight near the airport, I recommend checking out either the Springhill Suites or the Fairfield Inn, both by Marriott. They both offer a park and fly rate so you can get your room with 8 days of parking included. It has always cost us around $100. Since the parking would be about $60 anyways, the room ends up being only about $40. Both of the hotels are nice and clean and they offer a free breakfast too. Even though they are basically situated on the runway:laughing:, you really do not even notice the planes.

BTW, good luck on your EMT class. I have been a paramedic for almost 12 years (here in Michigan too!) and I remember how hard those classes were.

thanks for all the help, We were able to go from $695 at Northwest to $498 through air tran and still have direct flights. We did use the 25 voucher.
