Question on adding days to a ticket after a price increase

We need either a 4-day ticket or a 5-day ticket but will not know for sure until we book our flights. Current prices are $500 for a 4-day ticket and $545 for a 5-day ticket. If we purchase a 4-day ticket for $500, does anyone know what would happen if there was a 10% increase in ticket prices between when we purchased the 4-day ticket and the time we added the 5th day?

After the price increase the 4-day ticket would be $550 and the 5-day ticket would be $599.50. Would the cost to upgrade be:

• $49.50 (the price difference between a 4-day ticket and a 5-day ticket after the price increase
• $99.50 (the difference between the $500 we paid for the 4-day ticket and the $599.50 cost of a 5-day ticket after the price increase

If the hard expiration date (after allowable rebookings) of your ticket has not passed then take today's price (see Disney's web site) for the ticket you have, adjusted for starting said ticket on your new vacation start day . Then price out the kind of ticket you would like (or would need) to buy in order to end up with the desired number of days, hopping, etc. and the same desired start day. You pay the difference. End result more like $49.50.

If ticket prices increase after you initially buy the 4-day ticket and before you upgrade to the 5-day ticket, you will pay the increase along with the upgrade. Your 4-day ticket will continue to be valued at the $500 it cost when you bought it regardless of when you do the upgrade; you will need to pay the difference to the new (higher-priced) ticket.

So using your example:
$599.50 - $500.00 = $99.50 to add the extra day
