So we just waitlisted a 2 day stay at the Grand Californian. My question is....my last date to bank points is April 30 (UY Sept) and I requested the waitlist to be held until 31 days before our stay which is 7/25-7/27. If we wait until June 24 (31 days before) and the waitlist does not come through how would I save those points that have been committed to this stay? The CM was very helpful and totally knew what he was talking about but I'm new to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I think you should have a backup plan for an alternate vacation in case the wait list does not come through. Would you be willing to go to WDW instead as an alternate?

Absolutely !! The only reason we are going there is because my wife and step daughter are going to comic con and we thought this would put the "cherry on top" of the trip.

I am new at this, but I would bank the points just prior to April 30. Then if the wait list comes through, I would borrow from 2016 to pay for it. Check with Member Services to make sure it would work. As long as you have plans to use the banked points in your 2016 use year, it should be OK.

I agree that the safest route will be to bank those points at the end of April if the waitlist has not filled and have them change the request to borrow points if it fills before it expires.

Oh, that's cool. I didn't know you could ask DVC to pull off a maneuver like that in the middle of a waitlist request- good to know.

You might go to the end of the line in changing your WL request. I would cancel your current WL, change it to the borrowing option now, and then if it come through or before the end of April bank the current year points.

I don't think they'll lose their place in line in this situation. I'd make the change now to allow borrowing that way you can be sure.

If I bank and borrow and the WL does not come through won't those points go into holding and I have use by Aug 31 anyway? So, if I just wait until June 24 and cancel I need to use the points by Aug 31 and if I bank and borrow and the WL fails to come through I need to use the points by Aug 31, is that a correct statement?

The borrowing will only occur if the waitlist fills.
