Question for women who have been pregnant

I'm 38 and had a miscarriage last May. Got pregnant again I think October had a healthy 3 week early baby end of May this year. My spotting with my miscarriage just didn't stop and went pretty quickly. I spotted with this one after we well did the deed. Scared me to death. Hugs to you, I know how stressful it is. As others have said, feet up and drink water. Oh and stay away from google, just not worth it.

I had bleeding with both of my pregancies. I have a bicornuate uterus, which means it is kind of heart shaped (didn't know until my first pregnacy). So, the side opposite where the embryo was would bleed.

My additional suggestion would be for you to get your blood pressure checked. They have free machines in places like Walgreens. Mine was always low before being pregnant, but I had pregnancy induced hypertension. It was discovered when I went in about my bleeding. It is fairly common and easily managed. During most of my pregnancy, I was instructed to sit with my feet up whenever possible. I was told absolutely no physical activity, not even a brisk walk. Then, I ended up having to be on bed rest for the final two months of each pregnancy.

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with my first child. I experienced the same thing at around 6-7 weeks. I of course freaked out but my doc said I shouldn't worry because it was due to the baby implanting. When the embryo attaches to the uterus bleeding can be normal as well as if you've been intimate recently. My doc said not to worry unless it my bleeding became heavier then a period. As for cramping, your body is starting to change in some crazy ways!! And discomfort from that is common.

Hope this helps!! And stay away from Google. Lol. That usually will only scare you for no reason. I'll be praying for you and your lil bundle of joy!!!!

Good luck to you op. I hope everything is okay for you.

I wouldnt worry about your blood pressure just yet. Pregnancy induced hypertension doesnt usually show up until 20 weeks and by then you will be under doctors care. Im 35 & had high blood pressure (on meds) and have a healthy 3 month old.

Have you tried calling the doctor you are planning on seeing in Sept? Maybe they will have you come for a check just because it would be the right thing to do. Some doctors charge a flat fee for a pregnancy so it wouldn't make much difference if you come in a few weeks before your coverage starts. Doesn't hurt to ask and get some reassurance on the phone.

My mom had spotting through her entire first trimester with me. She thought I was just the change coming a little early since she was 37...didn't know she was pregnant till she was 3.5/4 months along! So I'm proof that spotting early isn't necessarily something to worry about! If you can see a doctor (maybe a clinic?) then you might want to go. Planned Parenthood is a good option, too. My SIL works for Family Planning and they do all sorts of care for expectant moms.

With my first, I was also 35 years old. When I was about 7-8 weeks along, I started bleeding. Not heavy, but like a light period. I freaked and went straight to the ER. They did a ******l ultrasound and were able to see that everything was okay. I was told to go home and rest for a few days and everything turned out fine. My DS is 13 now!

We still talk about and kept that first ultrasound photo---my little "lima bean"!!

I would say if it's going to put your mind at ease, go to the ER. They have to see you and if you don't have any money, they'll work something out. We can all say don't worry, it will be fine....but it just doesn't work that way! I'm sure you're going to worry until you know something more definite.

Hoping for only the best!!!!

I have been there. I have lost pregnancies and have done months of bed rest laying on my left side and worrying/praying/crying/planning/hoping/wishing/dreaming.

I have three beautiful and healthy kids who are 23,17, and 4.

Lay down, put your feet up, eat some chocolate, and try to laugh. I really enjoyed America's Funniest Home Videos. Watching wedding cakes fall over, men getting whacked in the crotch, and Great Aunt Edna split the seam out of her tight polyester pants worked wonders.

Motherhood is the most scary-wonderful thing in the universe.

When I was in a very high risk pregnancy with our little princess I remember being in the same place spotting a few weeks into a miracle pregnancy. There were so many Disers who prayed for us, encouraged me, and sent lots of pixie dust our way.

So, I get to pray for you now, and send pixie dust, and wrap my virtual arms around you and tell you that you are being loved even though you are far away.

The rest, water and stay off Google advise is spot on. As is the nothing a doc can do advise. So put your feet up, have hubby bring you water & watch some mindless tv while thinking positive thoughts!

Thank you all for the replies! My family ended up talking me into going to the hospital to be checked. I can't see a doctor and be covered by our insurance, but emergency is covered (at least partially - I'm scared of receiving a crazy bill). I'm a bit over 6 weeks, according to when my last period was, but I'm 5 weeks 1 day according to the ultrasound. My periods aren't regular, though.

My HCG level is close to 12000, but the ultrasound showed a gestational sac, a questionable yolk sac, and no fetal pole. Not a good sign, but nothing is known for sure. I go back in the morning to have blood drawn to see if my HCG has doubled. Even if it has, it can still be a blighted ovum, where my HCG rises, but the baby has stopped growing. I hate that even if I get good news tomorrow about my HCG, I still won't know if we've essentially already lost the baby.

Google is certainly my worst enemy right now - I keep caving in to searches and then stop myself shortly after. I'm the type that researches everything to death, so it's really hard not to stay off the computer.

I'll cross my fingers for you and send some pixie dust your way. Try to rest, and yes, try to stay off of google. Hoping for the best for you!

Your not alone in what your going through. I've been there too many times that I care to count and am now 15 weeks pregnant with baby #4 (as for age I'm now 36)!! I had a miscarriage back in January of this year and another one back in April of this year.

I'll hope the best for you!! I hope your numbers keep going up and up and you end up with a healthy baby at the end of all this. It is possible. I'll share when I was pregnant with my 2nd we went in for our u/s thinking we were about 7 weeks. No heartbeat and measuring about 5 weeks! Needless to say we were scared out of our minds and very sad. Did the blood work your doing every other day for a week and went in for another u/s because the numbers were continuing to rise and wouldn't you know it we were now at 6 weeks and saw the best thing possible a heartbeat!! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for the same to happen for you. I also have irregular periods so it's hard to measure my pregnancies off of that. :grouphug: Lots of hugs and just try to stay calm and off google. It is not your friend!! I do understand how hard it is.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been in a similar situation twice. Spotting and cramping, iffy ultrasound. Once it was a miscarriage and the next time I went on to have a healthy baby. I understand the worry you're feeling.:hug:

I hope everything turns out well. I was 35 when I got pregnant with my first as well. I spotted at 16 weeks. Everything turned out well and my daughter is now a thriving 18 mo old. Your body could just be responding to stress. In may case I spotted on the same day that I had a thyroid ultrasound for a very large thyroid nodule.

The biggest thing that I learned during my pregnancy.... Google is NOT your friend! The best thing that you can do for yourself is give yourself a computer break. Walk away and don't start researching things. I too am an obsessive researcher so I know how hard that can be but it seems like the internet is full of the worst case only scenarios and not the most common.

I had a miscarriage with my 2nd pregnancy. If it is a miscarriage not much you can do. When the bleeding first started I was put on complete bed rest. Stay hydrated and just stay in bed. Prayers everything turns out good.

I just wanted to say good luck tomorrow. Hope you receive good news.

I didn't read all the comments so sorry if this is repeat info, but if it's bright red/ pink blood it may be no big deal. Some people bleed throughout a whole pregnancy. Cramping is also normal throughout pregnancy. It could be nothing, so don't lose hope yet.
It's frustrating not to get to a Dr but if it is a.miscarriage there's nothing they can do. I've had one before (no cramping or bleeding, a "missed miscarriage") so if you want to pm me I can tell you more. Fingers crossed for you"! <3

Just wanted to add that no fetal pole at 6weeks is totally normal!!

When I was 6 or so weeks with my 3rd (1st dd), they couldn't find anything in the sac. I had to go every other day for a blood draw and ultra sound. My HCG levels went up everytime but they couldn't see anything (no heartbeat, nothing) till about 13 and then suddenly there she was! I am sending you tons of prayers.
