Question for those with children who take Adderall XR (Or another ADHD Med)

Thought this article might interest some of you as it is similar to the ongoing discussion. I am not sure what I think of diet making such a big change but I have heard about it often.

My 14 year old son has taken 4 different medicines in the last 7 years to control his ADD. I have found that the Daytrana patch helped him out the best. The patch lasts afrom 10-12 hours and it was just so esy to use. He did not have any sleeping issues while using it. He could also go swimming etc. Now I know every child is different, but I believe that the patch has helped him to mature enough and become stabilized and now he currently is not taking any meds for it. He had more the inattentative type, not the hyperactivity. I hope as your children get older and mature, that they also do not have to depend on the medicine to become productive teenagers and adults.

My DD12 was on Daytrana for 1 1/2 years...then it stopped working for her. When it did work it was great. She is currently on Vyvanse. She needs the meds to be able to concentrate and do her best in school.

My son 10 has been on Adderall xr since march now up to 40mg which is the max - takes it by 7:30 during the week any later and we have trouble sleeping I take off most weekends or lower the dose to 20mg if he only has 2 sports game... If you don't give it the full 12 hours to get out of the system it seems to effect the sleep. my son can't swollow pills and we wanted and extended tablet so our choices were slim..
