Question for those who have made room requests

how early did you make your request that you received?

I really don't think it matters when you place your request as long as it isn't last minute. If you know what you want to request, I would call and have the requests noted on the reservation. I've made requests months in advance. They are just requests. No matter when you place them, they aren't guaranteed.

I generally do online check in as soon as I book and choose what I'd prefer.
If I have a request that is not on the list I will call and have it noted on my reservation. Again this is done as soon as I book.
Its never a guarantee so I'm prepared if I don't get it.

I use Touring Plans Room Request tool. They have a dedicated email from Disney that they send to at 30 days out. It's all automatic, you just set up your request and they handle it.
It's not guaranteed, but I've had an 80% success rate over the years.

we have had excellent luck with our touring plans room requests. Not the exact room but mostly what I requested or an even better location

I’ve done Touring Plans request- first time nothing close to what we requested. Second time exactly what we requested.

Think understanding it’s not a guarantee especially with situation now and not just saying I want room #1234 specifically. Tell them why you want location- at CR we said North End of tower end of hall.

Just be clear what you want. If you want/need the door in between, you need to ask for "CONNECTING" rooms. If you're cool with them being next to, around the corner, diagonal, or across the hall (depending on the resort make-up), then "ADJOINING" is fine. The terms are very different in hotel-speak.

All connecting rooms adjoin, but not all adjoining rooms connect.

i always just call and have them add it to my reservation 30 days or so before and I have always had my requests met. The only time my requests was not met was when I used Touring Plans ironically. I got the exact opposite of what I requested that year at the Poly. Haven't used them since.

You've gotten lucky! I worked in a hotel for a while and people would always complain that they had requested adjoining rooms and did not get them when in reality they DID have adjoining rooms. What they wanted was connecting.

The agent taking the request and/or making the reservation on the resort end SHOULD clarify, but they don't always, so you need to be proactive. Day-of they might not be able to change to connecting if you were assigned adjoining but wanted connecting.

You can do the same by adding "Traveling with" and the respective reservation numbers of the other group members to your reservation. You just add that by whatever means you booked your stay.
